We’ve been here before but wanted to try the new menu items. Due to the closing of Spats in January, some of the Spats staff have moved to the Grill along with their NOLA inspired dishes. We shared a starter of artisanal bleu cheese with roasted almonds, Kalamata olives and sweet mustard dip. A nice sharing dish.
Jambalaya was probably not the best choice on a busy Blue & White weekend. It seemed warmed over and limp, but flavor was good.... perhaps another try. Cedar plank grilled salmon was buttery, served with whipped potatoes and a generous portion of tender asparagus.
Service was a bit frantic and erratic, if well meaning. Perhaps managers need to oversee service rather than just seat tables. This restaurant could be higher rated if service matched its food and delightful location.
A nice selection of items, although a little pricey for what it’s worth. The waitress was subpar (it seemed like another waitress was doing her job for her), it took us 10 minutes to be greeted and 30 minutes for just the bread to come out.
You’d think after waiting for an hour and a half you’d get a nice dish, then the dish comes out cold and food portion unsatisfying. And they charge a gourmet restaurant price for that. Unrealistically expensive. Manager’s ridiculous apology doesn’t make for the gigantic waste of time and money. Btw why is there no negative stars feature? Cuz this place sure deserves a five-star in negative.
The service and view were great which is why I gave two stars instead of one. The food however taste like poop sprinkled with cheese on top. My boyfriend thought the food was terrible as well. Garlic Parmesan fries had way too much Parmesan on them and the burger was so fatty after one bite I didn’t want it. The food selection is very basic. I would never go there again.
Come here every home football game. This last experience is making me find someplace new. General manager is the most obnoxious and rude lady I have ever seen. Constantly belittling the hostess, says the wait is 40 minutes when there was clearly empty tables. They take your name and number, going to give people a text, they never comeback but but hold the tables anyway. We found out the hard way they don’t text even though they say they do. The worst system and management I have ever seen.
Disappointing...cheap environment and overpriced food. Only thing they have is a history and a view.
Last time I went there they took almost 3 hours to get me my meal. I was polite and courteous to the staff when my food did arrive but I was not happy. Will not return.
Very nice food selection and high quality. Not cheap but you get what you pay for. I go here regularly when in State College
Have been here 3 different times and didn't enjoy the food for lunch or dinner. It's aesthetically pleasing providing you get the coveted rear window table, but the food is boring, salty and overpriced in my opinion. Surprisingly, the service was excellent!
Worse experience in the world when I had dinner here with my boyfriend, the waiter ignored us 90% of the time and also the food we ordered just tasted like pure salt.... Omg never again
Good food and service. Great view.
Appalling service. Table bread took 20 minutes to arrive. We didn't even get small plates. Entree took another 45 minutes to come out. My sandwich was dry as a desert. What more, the acoustics in the room make sound echo all throughout and you find yourself shouting across the table
The food was excellent and so was the service. I'll definitely be going there again!
Good place for lunch. Reminds me a little of some places in NYC as it's usually crowded, busy, but has good food and service. Love the reubens.
