I love this restaurant. I come regularly and I always leave happy. The service is very good, nice atmosphere, tasty food. I come here when I don't want to have any doubts that it will be a good experience.

Had a cheddar cheese burger and steak fries in my last visit to The Alcove. Was delicious and cooked exactly how I like it AND the chef who cooked my meal even brought it to me personally. Love this place.

This is the most amazing restaurant in town. I have never been dissatisfied with service or the meal when I have been there. Now that they have dinner theater it is beyond AMAZING!

Celebrated one year with my wife there in July. They recently renovated and it is very nicely done. The steak was one of the best I've ever had. Oysters on the half shell were a nice touch, and everybody enjoyed their entrees.

My wife and I tried the Alcove for our anniversary for the first time, we had an amazing experience and look forward to dining here again! I'm thrilled Mount Vernon now has an excellent restaurant for date nights.
We've been to many nice steakhouses, and I found the steak here on par with some of the nicer steakhouses out there. The pricing seems to be just right for an upper-end restaurant, and I feel the meal was a good value again for the quality of the food and service.
We came on a Thursday evening and experienced excellent service, our glasses were never empty (I drink a lot of water), and the food came out shortly after our salads were finished.
The Wedge Salad was fantastic, we both had it and loved it!
My wife tried the Colorado Lamb Chops and liked the mint infused dipping glaze they served them with. I had the twin filets and highly recommend them as well.
The only small negative was the loaded baked potato was small compared to the size I'm used to getting from nice steakhouses, it was just an average sized potato, and it wasn't what I'd call "loaded." They don't classify their sides as "shareable" which most high-end steakhouses do, so I guess a smaller potato should have been expected. Again, this was a minor nit pick; we had more than enough food.
We liked the classic feel of the decor as it fit the restaurant well. Overall it's a beautiful restaurant with great food and service.response / report this review -

Fancy fine dining. We were very under dressed, but the service and ambiance was great. You could tell that everyone was really trying hard to make us at ease and to feel waited upon.
I think we were being to casual for all that, but people took it in stride. Food was a little long, but everyone was happy with what they ordered.
I had fun, which was the important thing to me as the customer, even if it wasn't necessarily what the place was about.

Heres the good.
1.The place looks nice and is way better then it use to be design wise.
Here are the rundown of misses they made at our table.
1. I ordered a Gimlet and had to explain what that was. (I still don't think they got the drink right but it was fine).
2. Someone with us order water with lemon had to as for lemon several times. (minor I know but still)
3. Service was soooo slow. It took about an hour from the time we ordered to get our food and about 30 min just to get our salads. No acknowledgment was made by the staff about our slow service. We were there for about 2 hrs and he didn't wait to order or talk much after we ate.
4. The food was decent but nothing worth spending nearly what we spent(bill for 4 was about $150 for dinner).
5. On top of that we were taking friend out so we were going to pick up the tab but they asked if they could pay for appetizers, our waiter just slip the bill and they ended up with a much larger bill–
so much to treating our friends to dinner.
6. Then the lady dropped our friends credit card on the floor at some point so he had to track his card for her.
So all that to say, service needs a lot of help still. Food is good but doesn't hold up to the prices. And you will be there forever waiting on your food. I have no interest to go back anytime soon because if I'm paying north of 100 for a dinner I should be blown away by the food and the service should be amazing IMO.response / report this review -

Great experience, Mt Vernon has deserved a quality restaurant like this for years. The prices are appropriate for the high quality food, service is excellent, this is a restaurant foodies can appreciate.

We had dinner on 3/21 around 8pm. Loved the convenient way of setting our reservations on line. We felt welcomed as we were warmly greeted immediately from several employees as we walked in. We sat in a booth in the lounge area and had several people attending to us. The staff was super knowledgeable about the menu and they treated us like our business was important to them. We had a hard time deciding what to eat! It all looked so good. The menu was perfect in diversity and in the amount of choices. Our primary server (Zach) was able to answer all of our questions. It seemed as though they have to try everything (I love that)! The food was amazing, the lighting was soft and the service was perfection. We will definitely be coming back and bringing more people. A classy but comfortable place to go for dinner or have cocktails after work. ** Maybe a few more craft beer and craft cocktail choices down the road.
