Loved my time at Tech! Graduated in 1993 right at the explosion of restaurants that we all heard rumors of during the 80's. Now there are tons of places to go and all the dorms are renovated and they are building a new Athletic Center.
Great professors and most classes are small and inviting. Best Engineering School in the South!response / report this review -

This place is fine for college but that's about it. I wouldn't know. Never been a student here. What I do know is how frustrating it is to drive the roads that go through and around Tennessee Tech. I've lived here my whole life and seen it all. Almost seen a girl get splattered one night on Dixie where the speed limit is supposed to be 15 miles per hour but this car had to at least be going 50 or more. I was stopped at the crosswalk and another car was excessively speeding. That is no exaggeration! There are many students who just can't seem to understand what a crosswalk is laid out for. When you call the college, they say they'll pass the message along. Really? It hasn't done any good yet. Dixie is the worst The speed limit is 15 miles per hour 24/7. There are so many idiot college students and locals alike that fly up and down that street and get away with it. This campus does not do enough to ensure the safety of its students nor the citizens of this micropolitan city who travel and walk these roads. The roundabout in front of the medical building always has plants growing in the middle of it which make it harder to see people walking through it to the other side. This is extremely dangerous and should be addressed immediately. All of these issues should be addressed but I doubt they ever will be until someone gets killed.

I graduated with an Earth Sciences degree from TTU in 2011, and it was a great launching point for me to start as a geologist. I left there with a solid foundation in geology, plus I really enjoyed the other elective classes I took while there. I really enjoyed working on my Sr. thesis, and am ever grateful that most of the upper level classes included field components. Tuition was less than other state schools at the time, but the education was high quality. I solidly believe that you get out what you put into school, and I worked really hard when I was at Tech, so I had a stellar experience. The campus police were not very friendly to me as a skateboarder (especially after the time I got away on my wheels through campus! Classic!), but I suppose that just reflected the conservative attitude of Cookeville clashing with my non conformist way of life at the time (I have since calmed down, but still skate.) Go Tech!

I graduated way before tech became the big school it is now. We toured recently with our soon to be freashman and couldn’t believe how awesome campus was. Nice buildings and everyone we met was super nice.

Tennessee Tech is in a class of its own. The quality of education found here is unparalleled by any other institution of its kind. I truly believe I received an education just as valuable as any around, and in some cases for a third or a quarter of the price. I can now say I'll graduate debt free in May with the skills necessary to excel in a graduate school environment. Just remember that in any situation, you only get out what you put in. Tech embodies that well.

I am constantly grateful for the business department here not just for the academics but all the networking events they host. I would definitely recommend looking into Tech.

GREAT university! The professors in the music department are always willing to help and want you to succeed.
But, if you attend, be weary about the financial aid office. They are terrible, and make simple tasks 10 times more difficult then it should.response / report this review
