Great place to eat south indian style dosa. Cheap and tasty. Not easily accessible from the street (two flights of stairs in a narrow stairwell may be a bit difficult for the elderly).
Nice Indian food. Best during weekends.
Good number of vegetarian options at lower prices and best place for Indian Food.
Amazing place if you wanna taste some authentic South Indian cuisine.
Love their masala dosa. Vegetarian food doesn't make me overwhelm my stomach. My mind is cleanse, too.
Reasonable and tasty south Indian food only in temple basement canteen.
Awesome south indian food at great price..
Amazing and super affordable. Best in NYC that I've had
best s. Indian food in greater nyc areaalso most reasonably priced
Best indian food for the cheapest price in New York. Period.
Delicious South Indian food at reasonable prices. Very clean for Indian standards. I would have given 5 stars but parking is very tough and you need to go into the basement, (several sets of steps and walkways to the counter to order food) of the temple. I have added a photo of the menu with prices. The service is generally good and fast but during evenings on the weekends, the wait could be up 30 minutes or more. The Madras coffee was horrible (at least on 5/14/17 @830 pm- may be the coffee mix was getting too old) Masala tea was ok.
Anyone can enjoy this temple, it is very calming and they also have a canteen! In the canteen, the food is amazing!!! They also have powdered food, so if you are busy drop a handfull into a glass and add water. Voilà ! A meal on the go!
This place is brilliant. Its taste is authentic, service quick and overall super affordable. My wife and I have become temple regulars over the past 3 years and have had the opportunity to eat at the temple canteen multiple times. I would wholeheartedly encourage anyone with a taste for South Indian food to check it out. My favorite part is that part of the proceeds go to temple upkeep. Especially in NY, where things are overpriced and can be wanting in terms of quality, the temple is a refreshing change.
I was uneasy at first about eating South East Indian food due to the fact that it was vegetarian. As we went down the winding steps and entered the canteen, it was a very simple set up, more like a cafeteria. Any way, we ordered and sat down to eat. I could smell the powerful spices as I said my prayer. I took the first bite and was pleasantly surprised at how well blended the flavors were. I completely devoured my food. It was amazing, I didn't miss the meat at all. This will be a must, when ever I visit the city. If you are one that likes to try new food this is a must try spotenjoy!
