We have been going to Tea Roses for some years since shortly after they opened in Cromwell. Wonderful, cozy atmosphere, a nice selection of high quality looseleaf teas, and a gregarious, tea-knowlegeable owner, Peggy, who was made for this. It is a perfect place to drop in for tea and a scone, as well as full-blown low afternoon tea.
If you haven't been here you need to try it. The owner is wonderful, the food is delicious and the service isn't better anywhere.
We had the afternoon tea. All the bakery items and sandwiches were small treats. We were encouraged to take our time, and we did stay past their closing time with the encouragement of our host. The fireplace was lit, a nice touch on a rainy day. Highly recommended.
Not sure with the name but Soup was phenomenal 👌🏻Watermelon and pickles soup i guess
The food is very good, the portions are small and it is very pricey, but you're paying for the ambiance and experience. The teas are delicious and fresh brewed, with tons of choices, and they have a little gift shop section where you can buy teas and accessories
Peggy does a wonderful job. Lovely, relaxing space that instantly takes away all the stress of the day. Take a walk back in time, a sip of tea and enjoy!
Boutique style front end, English tea service in the back. Good for tea parties of 2-6 guests
Peggi and her hostess made us feel right at home, even when making our reservation over the phone. We were greeted with a sample of tea as we made our way to our table in the cozy and quaint tea room. We ordered the afternoon tea and when the tiered tray was brought to our table, we were given a detailed description of each delicious item. We enjoyed it all, including the pot of Congo Bongo tea kept nicely hot on a tea warmer at our table. It was an overall delightful day and we plan to return very soon!
The annual times that we have been there were memorable and delightful. Keep up the good job. We'll be there again this summer for birthday and anniversary soon.
I have visited several tea rooms throughout the state of Connecticut and even into historic Charleston, South Carolina where Southern hospitality saturates every corner, and none of them can even come close to the experience provided by Tea Roses Tea Room in Cromwell, CT. This is a best kept secret and a true gem of Connecticut.
The space is beautifully decorated and has a certain spa-like feel to it with its twinkle lights, cozy fireplace, and quaintness. I have been here several times for the Afternoon Tea service and other special evening tea events. At Tea Roses you are invited to choose your own teacup, if you'd like, which I have yet to experience at any other tea room. The proprietress, Peggi, hands you a cute booklet that contains all of the various teas available and encourages you to "Sit, Sip & Relax." Each teapot comes with its own candle warmer so that you don't have to worry about taking too much time and having your pot of tea get cold. All of the food is excellent and perfectly presented. The scones are fantastically tasty and come in the shape of a heart. Sounds silly, but there are even hand bath towels neatly folded in the bathroom for you to use. These little touches really make you feel cared for during your time at Tea Roses.
If you are looking for a quiet place to catch up with a friend, have a date night (or an afternoon date!), or maybe a girls' outing, I HIGHLY recommend Tea Roses Tea Room. You will not be disappointed. Thank you Peggi for following your dream and for providing such a special place for people to come together! I cannot wait until I'm back in the area to visit. Thank you!
We were pleasantly surprised by this wonderful tea shop and tea room. Best known for organic tea. Unlike most coffee places in the U.S., they really know how to properly brew a good cup of tea. Check out their exclusive custom Tea roses blend, which is a black tea with floral notes. The best surprise was the large selection of gluten-free options, including delicious fresh-baked scones with homemade lemon curd and clotted cream. Reservations suggested as they do not have many tables.
