We went to my boyfriend's annual family reunion here, and as always had a fantastic time! From the littlest tots to the eldest folk everyone enjoyed the beautiful scenery & wide open space. The shelter house was spacious & plenty of picnic tables for our pot luck dinner & everyone to set & eat & catch talk to catch up on family news!!
Tar Hollow is a great Park I recommend it to everyone!! Wish we lived closer I go more often⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

It's the best Ohio campground I have ever been at. The shelters are the only places that I have stayed and their normally more private and for my family it's what we love.

Sort of a State Forest, but mostly timber company property. The state of Ohio really screwed this once great natural area. I would be interested in knowing whose political pockets were lined.
Update: The Logan Trail has seen some improvements since the previous review. General overgrowth has been better contained and trail mapping posts have been installed at some locations. Fallen timber is still a serious impediment to a good hiking experience.

It is such a beautiful place. There are many places to hike in the Hocking hills area and I have been to every one multiple times. I go back every year. The Hocking hills has a fascinating history as well

Great trail, lots of interesting places to walk. I went in the early spring so there were a lot of downed trees on the path, so I'm not sure if it's cleared out during the rest of the year, but there was some difficult sections due to debris. The trail itself has some interesting choices in term of how it's structured. It doesn't have many switchbacks on the northern loop so you are going directly uphill in a few cases. I could see several portions of the trail getting flooded out during rain and there are several stream crossings so just keep that in mind. But overall I had fun. Campsites at the fire tower were nice.
