Z'man Simchataynu... "The Season of Our Rejoicing." Sukkot is a time to rejoice in gratitude for what we might at other times of the year take for granted - for the fall harvest and for all the harvests of one's life. Midrash Tehillim 80:56 states: "In the world to come, all prayers will be eliminated except for prayers of thanksgiving, which will never be abolished."
This is pluralistic, text based, discussion oriented program is a wonderful way to deepen your learning and create community. Classes start in late Oct. More info at www.ttsp.org/hineni Register at events.org/meltontwincities
Learning Torah through outdoor exploration is a new experiential approach for our TTSP Afternoon School students. Jordyn Whitman, will be leading students on monthly excursions to learn about Judaism in a place based and experiential setting. In September, students ventured out on a nature walk search for Oak Galls. The galls grow when wasps lay eggs in the branches and leaves of oak trees. Oak galls can be used to create ink. Soferim (scribes) and Jews of the past, used this ink to write the Torah. Students learned about this process and made a similar ink in class.
Buber employs brief Hasidic folktales to get at his understanding of what life is all about. Come and explore! More info and registration at www.ttsp.org/hineni
