We have been members for over 30 year and it hasn't changed much in that time frame. The only thing that has changed is management and the price you pay for on site keeps going up an up an up.
The repairs to the campground roads never get done and very seldom any inprovements made.response / report this review -

Large campground wow larger than I thought it was clean place lots to visit - walk - drive - golf cart - fish enjoy our stay for 14 day will come back when back in area

We made reservations for 3 nights online through Thousand Trails for Labor Day Weekend. Per the website, a reservation guarantees a site. That makes sense - isn't that the point of a reservation? We traveled over two hours and upon arriving were told there were no available sites and it was "first come first serve". Another guy there was in the same situation. This was our first experience with Thousand Trails and Indian Lakes and it will be our last. We traveled over two hours back home with the kids and dogs since all other campgrounds were booked for the weekend.

We were out looking at different campgrounds today when we found the Thousand Trails/KOA campground. We stopped at the office to see if we could look around and the clerk was very nice and helpful. I did take note that she mentioned a pool table had been broken by adults dancing on it. We first viewed the KOA part of the campground. The sites seemed very close together. Then we got into the permanent sites of Thousand Trails. Big mistake. We were on a one way street and got into a sea of golf carts and people. We were at a stand still when a fight started. There was a ton of people yelling and trying to pull people off each other and we were stuck with no where to go. We heard a woman say police were on their way. When they finally moved enough for us to go through them we high tailed it out without seeing the rest of the campground. NO WAY would I stay there. It looked like a glorified trailer park.

Run down dump! Indian lakes used to be awesome 25 years ago. Now it's permacamper hell. All the good sites are taken by permanent residents. The roads and facilities are totally trashed. There are hundreds of golf carts driving at all hours of the day and night. It was a dusty mess. My truck and camper needed detailed after 2 days. They looked like powdered donuts.don't waste your time here.

So my boyfriend made a reservation to stay at this place weeks prior to our visit. They call him FOUR days before we are supposed to arrive to let him know that we can't come for just one night, that we have to stay at least two nights because they have to pay the housekeeping (or some ridiculous excuse along these lines). I went straight to their website to look at their policy and NO WHERE does it say that visitors have to stay more than one night. They told him that he has to pay $200 and we have to stay the full two nights in order for us to come..AFTER their own website LET him make the reservation. So now he is going to lose the deposit that he put down because of THEIR wrong doings. And to get a call only four days before we are suppose to arrive is RIDICULOUS!! I've been in customer service for over ten years and I've never witnessed such horrible service from a businessever!! After reading all the bad reviews we were STILL going to try and give this place a chance.boy was we wrong!!! I'm surprised this place is still open and after being treated the way we were, I'm sure it wont be open much longer. I'm in total disbelief at the way they handled the "situation". I'll tell everyone I know to NEVER visit this place, what a joke!!

$100 a night for a dirty, run down cabin with BED BUGS. I now have about 80 bites on my face and arms. My son has about 20 on his torso. When complaining to management I was told they, " have never had a complaint in that cabin" and "they are in the wood bed frame and come out at night. Basically admitting they know. Didn't seemed shocked, concerned or even offer an apology. The pillows provided were stained and dingy. The shower curtain was moldy.

We come every year. They have always been continuously trying to improve and I always appreciate that. My only complaint is to address some of the smaller concerns too. It rained and our cabin leaked. We were told that the mamager was aware. It also had no smoke detectors and a whole in the ceiling in the bathroom. I know you guys are trying and you're really improving, the new playground and the slide going into the lake are awesome! But you can't overlook the basic safety things.

We stayed our first night in cabin 38. The cabin itself was livable, despite a strong musty smell and moldy shower curtain. The second day, despite many empty cabins, they put a couple with 2 very large dogs in the cabin with us (they are set up as duplex). The dogs barked loudly at every noise, and knowing we wouldn't get any sleep that night, asked to be moved. The staff were accommodating with the matter, and we were placed in cabin 14/15. This cabin had a less musty smell, and the appliances were more updated. There were mouse droppings in the silverware drawers, and if you stay in this cabin I suggest spraying yourselves and your bedding with bug spray. When we woke up the next morning, we were covered in mosquito bites and there were at least 30 dead mosquitoes on the stove (We had left the overhead light on). For them to call what they have LAKES is laughable. The bodies of water are separated by land, and present more like mossy, stagnated ponds. The road conditions are horrible, and the staff are not a bit friendly especially that lady working on 6/30/14 around 4pm. She huffed and puffed the entire time, never smiled, greeted us, zilch. The best part of the stay was the pool, as it is clean and free to campers. Honestly, we couldn't wait to leave and nearly left on our second night there. I truly feel bad for wasting part of my family's vacation visiting this place. If it wasn't for a great discounted stay with a Living Social voucher, I would never have known this place existed. I'll quickly forget it, except to give it poor reviews to all that I can. Also, I can say that we will NEVER return.

DO NOT LEAVE YOUR CAMPER AT THIS CAMPGROUND!!
My camper was illegally sold with the permission of the Manager at Indian Lakes in Sunman, Indiana.
Charlene (Manager) knew that lot 47 was leased in my name only.
I had my camper on that lot for two years and the lease expired May 1, 2016.
I had spoken to Charlene weeks prior and told her that the other person on my membership was arranging to sell my camper.
Charlene knew that I had purchased the camper from the previous owner and I told her that I had possession of the title.
She voided out all the passes and told me the person was not allowed on the lot because it was leased in my name only.
Charlene then authorized for my camper and shed to be illegally sold right off my lot while I was out of town.
I sent a friend on 4/28/16 to pick up my camper and Charlene would not allow that person access.
Charlene then conspired to have my camper moved from my lot to a secluded site on the campground that night.
Charlene will not answer repeated phone calls and all voicemail boxes are full.
I need someone to contact me and I have had no reply from Indian Lakes or KOA.response / report this review
