I love this vet clinic. They have been so gentle with my dog and cat. The vet, Dr. Nield, is very knowledgeable and kind. He takes the time to explain what is going on, what the options for treatment are, and which treatment option he recommends and why. The staff are all friendly and professional. They know how to handle and comfort upset pets. Amazing vet clinic I highly recommend Sunnyside!

We absolutely love Sunnyside vet clinic! The staff is all so kind and friendly. I really feel like they go above and beyond expectations. Just last time I was in for a teeth cleaning for my dog her nails were getting long and I hadn't gotten around to cutting them yet and they cut them and didn't charge me any extra I was so happy!

This morning I accompanied my mother to perform a very difficult task for any family. Euthanizing not just one of our family members but two. We arrived a few minutes early to the scheduled appointment knowing our beloved pets would need to use the restroom and knowing that procedure would be to check out prior to putting them to sleep. I asked my mother if she would like me to go inside and take care of the bill while she spent some time outside with our dear Daisy and Luke. Ultimately, I regret not just going to do this.

As a veterinary technician for two of our other local clinics I was modified by the treatment we received upon entering the door. I expect the initial upbeat greeting from staff but this was beyond that. My mother, through tears, stated that we were there with Luke and Daisy. The receptionist laughed and asked if they were here for boarding. My mother could barely mutter no so I took over talking to the receptionist. I said no, stating that we had a 9:15 appointment for euthanasias. The receptionist continued to laugh and made a joke about clearly it was still morning and she was tired. I wish I could say that our experience improved but it didn’t. No from there the receptionist messed up the consent forms and made yet another joke at the painful expense of our loss. I was so estastic to be done dealing with her, thinking the experience would improve but it didn’t get any better from there.

Either of the clinics I work at would have taken the pets last weight from the chart history seeing as they were just in the clinic. Instead the technician assigned to our room made my mother struggle to get each pet onto the scale not once offering to assist her. We were walked down a narrow hallway to the room where a doctor exited from another door and not once apologized for cutting us off. Inside the room was not even a blanket laid out for our loved ones. A tissue box was not provided or even offered to us. So I am thankful that I stuffed my pockets with some before we made the hardest drive of our lives.
The technician could not have lacked any more empathy then that of the receptionist. She not once said anything like “I know this is difficult” or showed any signal to remorse for my family. My mother unable to answer her question so I explained why we had come to the decision we had with our elderly family members. This was the first time someone even acknowledged our pain and said just “sorry” and that she would return with the doctor in a little bit so we could say goodbye.

Several times we were made to answer questions we had already been asked from the time we set up the appointment the day before on the phone up until they euthanized the animals. There was no communication at all with the entire team of staff and clearly none of the decisions that had been discussed on the phone were even marked in the appointment.

When the doctor entered they still did not bring a blanket for either dog, they did not offer us any tissues. They did not once try to explain the process or even ask if we would like them to. The whole process came across as a factory line. The technician clearly just wanted to do her duties and leave. This was even present in the way the technician went about doing paw prints. Not even allow my mother or myself a moment to say any goodbyes before grabbing a hold of our lifeless pets limb and smashing their paw into the clay. Something that we should have been asked if we even wanted. There was no “we’re sorry for your loss” or “we hope to see you next time under better circumstances” not an ounce of sympathy towards our loss. I swear the only person at this clinic with any compassion is their technician Tyler, and had I expected this to be such a atrocious experience I would have pushed my mother to use another clinic.

It’s hard enough to lose such a precious member of your family, let alone two of them.

Edit: My mother wrote a review after the doctor had the nerve to call and complain about mine not even an hour after our loss.

I looked into different vets when we moved here. After checking out vets Dr Nield was above all. I have used him for all of my animals. Recently I had to put 2 of my dogs down. Dr Nield was compassionate, understanding and patient with me and my fur babies. I will never use anyone else! You can tell he cares!

High quality care for pets. The staff is very knowledgeable and caring, and takes the time to answer questions about medications, effects, what to expect, etc. Dr. Nield is a skilled veterinarian that also makes sure all my questions are answered about the technical aspects of a procedure (I just need to know!). My boxers' health can be quirky and I want to be sure they are around as long as possible, as healthy as possible.

Took care of us when we needed help in the most unfortunate way. We brought Tiffany in to ease her of her suffering, went as well as expected but I have since brought my other dog in to them. Enjoyed the staff and they show that they really care about the animals! I would recommend them for sure.

I have nothing but great things to say about the staff here! Cindy at the front desk has always been very friendly, professional, caring and understanding no matter the reason we are there for. Michelle, the veterinary technician is the same way. She is always so sweet to our babies! Dr. Nield is the best. His work is perfection. He cares for all his patients and wants the best for each and everyone of them. He always takes time to meet with you before any procedure is done and go over things (especially prices) and answers questions. I will never take my pets to another veterinary clinic. I have had my parents and in-laws take their pets here and even they have said what a difference this place and the staff are. If you need a vet for a simple check up, vaccines, spay or neuter or a complex surgery, this is the place to go. Your pet will be in the best hands possible. Never a worry with Sunnyside Veterinary Clinic. Thank you for always taking such good care of all our babies!

I took my golden retriever to this practice on the recommendation of a friend. I was concerned about a mysterious lump that had appeared on her side. All the staff were exceptionally professional and very caring. Dr Mike operated and fortunately the biopsy was not as bad as I feared. During the next few days all the staff and Dr. Mike were super throughout the post op period. I can say that I am exceptionally well pleased with the quality of care and kindness that all the staff showed. THANK YOU GUYS ! I am so grateful for all that you did.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Worst Vet Ever!!! I brought my dog in to get fixed and she was scheduled to get the stitches taken out 2 weeks later. About a week in, she started oozing and bleeding so we brought her back in to get it checked out. They started taking the stitches out and I told them to stop because that's not what we brought her in for. The "nurse" said "Oops. Well that stitch is already out." Later the vet came in and look at it and took the rest of the stitches out and said "You're good to go." On our way back home, she continued to bleed. Not only is the staff here stupid, but they also don't listen. They don't get the appointments right and don't schedule things very well. If you don't care about your pet, this is the place for you. If you actually love your pet, then don't ever bring them here or you might lose it. I can just imagine bringing your dog in for its rabies shots and they euthanize it instead. I wouldn't put it past them.

Dr. Nield was so professional, yet explained the situation in terms that were completely understandable. He was caring and knowledgeable enough that he did not have to run extensive & costly tests in order to diagnose what was wrong with our injured puppy. Further, we were walk-ins on a busy Saturday 30 min before their normal closing time. Not only did they help us in our emergency, they did so happily even though they were busy and our visit would require them to stay later. The cost was reasonable and our puppy is doing great now.
I had previously been to another local vet (the one on Broadway) & paid an unreasonable amount for poor service and unresolved issues with a pet.
DR. NIELD at Sunnyside Vet will be our choice from now on and I will recommend him to family and friends, anyone with a pet.
Thank you again, Dr. Nield and staff!

The staff here is awesome and they care for you pet much better than any other clinic I have been too and I've been to quite a few. The main vet Dr. Neild seems to genuinely care about your pet.
