I took my wife for an overnight to celebrate her birthday, and we stayed in the log cabin. It was extremely clean and charming and even though we are from the South Hills of Pittsburgh, we felt like we were transported to a completely different place. Tara and John were both extremely helpful and accommodating. Breakfast was amazing! We could not have asked for a better experience and definitely plan to go back.

We stayed here in October 2017. Place was beautiful but owners awful. Was told not to use lights, and complained we used coffee. We were pushed into cabin but never was allowed anywhere else. Owners blocked driveway and kept us in the room alone. She turned everything off when they went to bed so we had to walk down steps In the dark because all lights were turned off. She was so pushy and unpleasant we left early so we did not see her again. She made a personal comment about our children after her lecture on raising them. We felt so uncomfortable I just wanted to leave and go home. I never write on these but wish I had listened to the other negative reviews and not wasted my vacation here.

We recently enjoyed a lovely, relaxing three-night stay in Sun and Cricket's wonderful Log Cabin. I cannot rave enough about the accommodation as well as the overall generous hospitality that Tara and John offered. The log cabin and the property's grounds are idyllic. The moment we walked into the cabin we immediately felt at home. The cabin is extremely clean and well appointed. (Such details as a very generous number of washcloths--an item of which we use multiple in a day-- were much appreciated and not the norm as at most vacation accommodations, I find at least one thing not in sufficient supply and thus I am always lugging extra washcloths, toilet paper, etc., from home with me. At Sun and Cricket, however, none of my supplies were needed as Tara and John have thought of everything, and equally important, they are not at all miserly with supplies.) The log cabin is surprisingly spacious and would comfortably accommodate up to four people. For this stay it was my husband and I staying in the upper bedroom and my aunt staying on the private lower level. The breakfasts were beyond outstanding. We have stayed at several high quality B&Bs in the US as well as in Europe, and I have to say that the breakfasts served at Sun & Cricket were easily the best we were ever served at a B&B. Every morning, a highly impressive, three-course breakfast was delivered to our table in the log cabin. We three were delighted by the quality of the food as well as the artistic presentation of courses. Beds and bedding were extremely comfortable and of a high standard. (We slept the best we have in ages as there are no sounds other than nature.) Tara's directions to various places were precise, helpful, and saved us much time. We will be returning here ASAP and recommend without reservation the Log Cabin to anyone considering it. Sun and Cricket is truly an oasis, especially for those of us presently living in areas that are hectic, overcrowded, and/or not rural, due to inflexible work commitments. Two final notes: We were very impressed with the easy, quick proximity to Pittsburgh, and we would suggest a minimum of three nights but maximum of more if you can stay longer.

This B&B is delightful. My husband and I have stayed in many B&Bs and this is by far one of the nicest and friendliest places to stay. I am a stickler on cleanliness, so to have nice accommodations is very important to me. The owners were so pleasant, the breakfast was delicious. We stayed in the Log Cabin which was charming. I would like to return someday to stay in the Carriage House. I'm sure it's just as adorable as the cabin. Kudos to Tara and John for running such an inviting place for weary travelers to stay.

Enjoyable Labor day Weekend Found out about this gem of a B&B 7 years ago when thinking about a romantic getaway for my girlfriend and I. I proposed back then and we have been back 6 times since, this past weekend with our 4 year old son

The hospitality and setting are awesome. Two very friendly golden retrievers, and two cats that will greet you on arrival. Quarter Morgan horses and the deer at the tree line at sunsetThe Carriage House is our favorite, the log cabin is extra special, too The prepared breakfasts (always different each day - Apple French Toast, Chocolate Waffles smothered in maple syrup and raspberries - are my favorite) and mouth watering egg sandwiches are to die for. The proprietors are the best and they strive to go the extra mile to assure that your stay is beyond expectation (have never failed to succeed on every occasion, for us). We come back time an time again to see the sights in and around Pittsburgh, but we will only stay here!

They do a wonderful job at this bed and breakfast of making you feel comfortable and at home. The breakfasts are made with care and are some of the best meals I have had in my life. She uses fresh grown fruit and makes a variety of filling and tasty dishes. We stayed at the log cabin and it was very cozy. Any questions we had they readily answered. They have a beautiful farm and enjoyable pool and are located very nicely near plenty of fun stores, restaurants and entertainment facilities. One night we had leftover ice cream and Tara gladly put it in her freezer for us. She also washed any dishes we made (even if they were ours). My wife and I are planning on staying here again whenever we are in town!

My wife and I first stayed at the Sun & Cricket shortly after getting married 2 years ago. Since then we've made it a tradition to spend the weekend there for our anniversary, having just spent our third weekend in the Carriage House.

We've only ever stayed at the Carriage House, and I think it will always be our preferred location. We absolutely love the proximity to the horses (Mariah, Cody and Stargazer) and being welcomed by the two barn cats (Chief and Joe). The Carriage House also provides a more private feel as it's a good distance from the main house and log cabin.

Each and every experience has been outstanding. Tara and John are fantastic hosts. We can't get enough of Tara's breakfasts (German puff pancakes are my personal favorite) and both Tara and John always provide warm and welcoming conversation. The swimming pool is beautiful and we always make sure to take full advantage of it if the weather cooperates.

When we're at the Sun & Cricket, it's hard to believe that we're only 20 minutes from downtown Pittsburgh. It really feels like a whole different world.

We look forward to continuing our tradition at our home away from home for years to come. If you're in from out of town or just need a little getaway close to home, I highly recommend a stay at the Sun & Cricket!
