It was very dirty. Walls had shampoo on them in the bathroom. Walls were VERY DIRTY and walls and curtains had holes. Floors had makeup brushes and other items left by previous customers. Front desk during the day was intentionally unhelpful and lied about the ability to get us blankets, then blamed housekeeping. The weather had gone from 79 to 51 degrees. And she wouldn't give us blankets. It was awful.
Old. Certainly not fancy. Pool, hot tub seasonly closed still in April. Sheets and towels were old but clean. Paid $60+ total including taxes through Hotwire. Just needed a bed and a roof between dive sessions in Spring Lake. That's what I got. You want fancy, go pay twice that.
Place looks decent from outside, but beware. Worst hotel we've ever been to. Room smelled like smoke. Pillows we're not on the bed. Pillows did not have covers and had nasty stains on them. The roof was leaking water as well. Furniture was heavily damaged as well. We didn't want to stay there long enough to take pictures to post in the reviews
Save yourself the trouble and book elsewhere.
Multiple broken things like ice machine, washer/dryer, and hot water heater. Staff is not very knowledgeable or friendly. Rooms are not clean and the rooms have a lot of disrepair. Bathrooms with holes
This motel may not be a fancy one but for the price it is well worth it. The staff here went above and beyond what any other hotel has ever done. Donald the gm was wonderful and helpful as well as the other desk clerks and housekeepers. Will stay there again
This is a great place to stay the staff is exceptional. It is older but worth the time to stay.
Stayed in this hotel mid October, upon arrival we were given a "non smoking" room that reeked of mold and cigarettes and contained an old 2x4 and an empty aquarium full of computer parts. I was given a new room without issue however it wasn't much better, the carpets were stained, walls were dirty and the shower clogged constantly.
The free 'breakfast' was lukewarm milk, cold coffee, bread and cereal.
The pool was covered in an old tarp and surrounded with rocks.
On top of everything once the sun went down the stairwell filled with homeless people who while weren't confrontational also weren't exactly comforting.
Definitely will not be staying here again, not worth any money saved by staying here instead of the many other hotels in the area. 👎
Room nice and clean. Front desk personal was very kind and fast to check in. No phone in the room but who really uses those with cell phones around. Will address this though. .over all I will give it a thumbs up and will continue ur to stay on the next visit to San Marcos.
Multiple broken things like ice machine, washer/dryer, and hot water heater. Staff is not very knowledgeable or friendly. Rooms are not clean and the rooms have a lot of disrepair. Bathrooms with holes, bed bugs, toilets not very clean and so much more wrong. Freddy is the best clerk there. He always tries to help. Thank you Freddy.
You're going to love this place, here's why
For one, it's the perfect spot for the fantastic shady creatures of the night to come by and check out your car. The back entrance is nicely hidden and the lights won't hurt your eyes because they're not on. Just a nice dark alley with some parked cars.
The pool could probably do one of two things for you, not sure which because it was late when I arrived and I didn't test it out. Either you will get amazing super powers or have an amazing spa treatment from the new algea water they installed.
Don't worry, the spa treatment doesn't end at the pool. Walk into the room and it's your own personal sauna. Couldn't find the rocks to make the steam, but the sweat will really open your pores. Get somewhat cooled down only takes about an hour, so you'll have pretty of time to enjoy yourself.
When you go to the bathroom to clean off from the day, you'll feel right at home. I mean, if your home bathroom wasn't cleaned for awhile. It's like you never left your stained shower curtain liner.
If you loved The Flinstones, you're going to absolutely love a stroll down memory lane when you lay down for the evening. When you squint your eyes, you can almost see Wilma laying next to you on the slab of rock.
Morning comes and it's all worth it because it's breakfast time. You walk down to the office and you see a buffet of two cereals, some bread, and an awesome pancake maker. But for those watching your figure, it's all good. You won't be tempted by pancakes because the machine won't be working. And while the tempting delicacy of gnats flying around the milk look amazing, they might not be everyone. That's understandable.
The staff was nice though.
Overall, you know what you're paying for and what to expect.
Awesome staff. Great room. Crappy tv tho
Checked out within 20 minutes after checking in. Found at least a dozen roaches within that time span. Also, the pool and hot tub are currently unuseable which was not stated to me when checking in, otherwise I would have cancled. Our non smoking room did not seem to be so non smoking, in fact it smelt as though it had been smoked in that day. Luckily they did not give me a hard time about refunding my money, or this review would be much, much worse. Ended up staying at the Howard Johnson a few blocks up the highway, and the extra $8 that I paid for 2 nights there was the best $8 I spent in San Marcos. Would not recommend the Summit Inn for any reason.
0 stars. There was nothing good about this please and we stayed because it was our only option. Facility is pretty trashy. Trash on stairs, ac didn't cool room, beds were very hard, lobby area had no ac, and the staff were not friendly. I wouldn't recommend. We stayed on a Saturday night so of the rate was double what it normally is which I found out was around $50 weekdays. So I guess you get what you pay for..
I was VERY disappointed in this hotel. They didn't have my reservation, they didn't take checks (which I was on a school trip was to pay with a school check). I had to pay with my credit card (thankfully my school will reimburse me). The outside area upstairs smelled like sour garbage, in my room the couch was gross, the comforter was stained, the carpet was stained, the desk chair was broken, there was no trash can, and the water pressure was almost non-existent. On a positive note, the receiptionist was polite and helpful when I spoke with her. I checked out after 1 night and was only charged for that 1 night and reimbursed my money for the others. They say "you get what you pay for", however it isn't difficult to take care of what you have, show a little cleanliness, and provide basic necessities in the room for your guests.
Worse room service ever!!!!! They do not clean your rooms they leave your trash as is and only make up your bed. Roaches!
