Strategic Behavioral Center-Charlotte offers therapy designed to treat different types of traumas.

Some adolescents have experienced or witnessed physical, emotional, or sexual abuse. Others have lost an important family member or the only home they have known. Any of these experiences can result in a trauma significant enough to require special therapy.

The therapists at Strategic Behavioral Center-Charlotte know how to recognize the signs of trauma. They have been trained to treat adolescents who have symptoms of trauma.

Youth cannot always talk about traumatic events. Their emotions and behavior will change as they try to process the stress related to harmful events. Traumatic experiences can cause the youth to develop fears, have changes in sleeping patterns, develop unusual eating patterns, avoid social interactions with family, stop going to school, have lower school grades, or become aggressive with siblings or classmates.

Strategic Behavioral Center-Charlotte provides the environment and trained staff to help adolescents recover from their trauma. Adolescents return to school and their community ready to resume participation in normal teen activities.
