Our first impression of this place was amazing! The Staff and Management were very considerate and beyond helpful while looking for apartments throughout Columbus. Although they’re in the middle of completely renovating the property, the renovations that are being made are tremendous! Brand new everything!

I’ve lived at Sterling Place for about a year now and am in the process of renewing my lease to stay another year! I love the location – I work downtown and play downtown, and like when my home is separate from those things. Sterling Place is close enough that commuting isn’t a hassle but I feel tucked away. There’s everything you need in the area – lots of GREAT food, bars, entertainment, no less than a million grocery stores, and even a Trader Joe’s. The price has been fair, the location is great, and here is some other, better feedback on my time at Sterling Place:

My apartment: I have a one bedroom floor plan, with updated appliances and an in-unit washer/dryer. I love my apartment! It’s a cozy size: the living room and bedroom are a normal size, the bathroom is HUGE, and the kitchen is a bit small but as someone who loves to cook, I feel like I have plenty of room to do what I need to do. My building is very quiet, I rarely hear my neighbors and have never experienced any noise that’s out of line.

Amenities: I’ve really only used the pool, and it’s an awesome space. There’s a cool fire pit area and cabana-like seating areas in the shade if you don’t want a spot in the sun. The new management has a ton of improvements in the pipeline, too, so I’m sure things will only get better.

Management: the complex has recently been bought by a new company, and I’ve had nothing but good experiences with the staff. Brooke especially has been wonderful – she stopped in to discuss renewing my lease and offered to have the staff change the flooring in my kitchen and make other updates to make the unit consistent with the updates they are currently doing in other units (even though my apartment is technically updated). They've been great.

Overall, I would highly recommend this complex.

UPDATE: I've been at Sterling Place for over two years now and am happier than ever. The complex was just purchased by a new company and the improvements that they have been making are AMAZING. They have completely repainted/re-roofed all of the buildings and have re-landscaped, as well. New management has been incredibly accommodating and communicative with a maintenance issue that I have been experiencing - I called on a Monday morning and they had someone out within hours. Joe and Brooke have been so friendly through the whole process! As far as the rent prices go, with all of the new developments popping up around the city, the rent here is comparable, if not cheaper! I am hoping to renew my lease for the upcoming year :-)

I've officially been living at Sterling Place for a year now, so I figured that I had had enough time to write an accurate review for the complex. Here are some things of note:

1. You can't beat the location and the price for the location. I did some pretty heavy apartment hunting this time last year to find a one bedroom that was in a location close to work, in a close proximity to a grocery/shopping establishments, and Sterling Place offers all of that. There is literally anything that you could possibly want or need within a five-mile radius and 315 is fairly close as well (about 3 miles down Bethel). Most of the other complexes in the area have prices similar, if not more expensive, than Sterling Place. The caveat being that I was looking for one-bedroom apartments, so there might be a different price point for multi-bedroom apartments. In addition, re-signing my lease only led to a $15/month rent increase, which I believe is fairly standard for most apartment complexes.

2. Every interaction I’ve had with the staff at Sterling place has been very positive. I have had various questions/concerns throughout the past year and all of them have been addressed professionally and promptly. I was even welcome to host a birthday party/wine tasting in the clubhouse and the staff members were very accommodating for the event. I’ve never had any issues with the staff being rude or unhelpful, very much the opposite, actually.

3. I obviously cannot speak for any other residents’ experiences, but my apartment was fully functioning and very clean upon move-in. Although the appliances could use a little upgrading (for financial reasons, I chose to live in a non-upgraded unit), they are all in good working order and do their respective jobs. Just this past weekend, I had my first run-in with needing to put in for a service request (there must have been a water main break somewhere nearby), and the issue was fixed the same day. The staff member I spoke to on the phone was very empathetic and helpful. I appreciated the efficiency of the maintenance request and have no complaints in that area.

4. Regarding safety issues/concerns, I have never felt unsafe in the complex and have not heard of (in the past 12 months, at least) any issues with theft or cars being broken into. I routinely go for early morning/late night walks and runs and the complex is relatively well-lit. As a young woman, I have always felt fine walking around the complex at any hour of day or night.

So, take it or leave it, this has been my honest opinion of living here for the past year. I lived in some pretty dumpy places during my time at Ohio State and Sterling Place is the first complex that my parents are actually excited to come visit me in. I’m sure there are varying experiences from a wide range of people, but I have had a really nice living experience here and definitely would (and have) recommended it to others.

Good place until they raised my rate $130 per month. These apartments are not worth $849 per month, especially for an outdated 650 square foot apartment.

Message to the new management would be treating current residence like this is not right.

Message for future residence, get ready for a huge jump in rent after a year..

Won't be renewing my lease.

It is true that Sterling Place Apartments is under new management. We recently rented an apartment and were very pleased with the application/leasing process and the staff's willingness to work with us to be sure we were happy. Their rates are very reasonable and we were impressed with the condition of the grounds as well as the unit itself. We look forward to our time at Sterling Place. Sterling Place was bought again by another company, and we'll see what that will look like. The maintenance from the old management was HORRIBLE. The carpets stunk of cat and dog pee and they had to be removed (after resistance from the office and one of the staff being real and sharing that it was not acceptable). The main office woman told me that they would "get creative" at fixing the broken windows. No. I don't need you to rig something so that it may or may not work. I need you to fix it.

Currently, maintenance was very helpful. John get his stuff DONE. Quick, quality work. Knowledgeable and friendly. MUCH better than the idiots previously.

I'm hoping this place turns around. I'm seeing improvements in just a few weeks and hope it continues.

Stopped by to look at a rental. Was given my application, I informed that I was late getting back to work and would fill out and submit application for the apartment. When I did so, I was informed that it was rented. I was never given the option to put money down to hold the unit while I filled out the application! Waste of time, and Kelli lies just like everyone else in Columbus property management.

TL;DR: Staff is rude, homophobic community, worst place to live if you work from home.

Staff is rude once they get you into an apartment. Everything is fine and dandy until they get you hooked. If you plan to live here, my suggestion is don't. Especially if you work from home where drop offs from clients are frequent.

My wife, myself, my brother, and his fiance were given the boot from Sterling Place under SUSPICION of illegal activities. There was no proof found in our apartment of the accusations. But since their joke of a security guard said that my roommate rolled a joint in front of him we were kicked out; again this was without proof.

I have cause to believe this is due to this being a homophobic community due to an ex employee having said his ex co-workers hid dildos and vodka in his desk which lead to him quitting his job because of the way they sexualized his lifestyle and the form of harassment.

They thought they were getting two straight couples and got two gay ones instead. I repeat, IF YOU ARE GAY AND OR WORK FROM HOME TURN AROUND NOW AND NEVER LOOK BACK. You will almost INSTANTLY regret your choice in housing.

Staff is friendly & 3rd floor plan w/ loft has lots of space BUT the general up keep of the place is what ruins this place. Maintance would mark things as "completed" when work orders were submitted (leaky sink, broken dishwasher etc) and it was not fixed in a timely manner + required follow ups on my end to make sure it was done right. Should not be that way. Lots of parking lot security lights out means a dark walk to your apartment late at night. Workout space outdated. No special perks included with this place. This is just me complaining but be prepared to walk your trash far to the dumpster or put it in your vehicle (which btw like another person said, it's always over flowing). Found this place to live because I was in a pinch, if I had more time I would have not chosen this place.

I love my apartment at Sterling Place! The units are spacious with lots of amenities for a reasonable price. I have been here two and a half years, and each time my lease is about to be up I shop around for a better deal. I am convinced that there are no other apartments that are more affordable without sacrificing location or amenities. The apartments have dishwasher, washer/dryer hookups, double bowl kitchen sinks, and the largest patio/balcony you've ever had on an apartment. The community amenities are also fantastic! The pool and the recently renovated fitness center are my favorites. Lastly, there is continued maintenance on the community every year. Things like a fresh coat of paint on all of the buildings and updates to the pool area and furniture keep things modern and in good repair. I cannot recommend these apartments highly enough!

I have lived at Sterling Place for 3 years and I absolutely love it. They have added so many amenities and made so many updates to the community. Great location and I love the scenery. I love the office staff and the maintenance team. The manager has always been helpful and understanding when I've needed something. Definitely recommend living here!!

I have lived at Sterling Place for a little over a year now and have had nothing but a positive experience. Thus far, they have been kind and helpful. Maintenance has always responded in a reasonable amount of time, even when the issues were not emergency. We have put in about 5 requests within a year and each has been completed within a day or so. The staff has been very helpful and even worked with me to find a lease period that worked with my graduation date. The rent did increase when we renewed our lease, but it was a reasonable increase that I felt was worth it for the apartment I am renting.
