1st Time having an undercooked burger here. (Prime) 25 min wait for a soda too.
They did refund & did everything to correct the issue.
I will continue to go here.
My husband & I just walked out of steak n shake @ 9500 NE Barry Rd, Kansas City, MO 64157.
Issues I saw:
Employees with messy uniforms
No hairnet or even hair properly secured into a pony tail
Employee smoking at front door, while eating then returned to work at food prep area without washing hands
Trash all over restaurant
Bathroom was disgusting with ketchup and other condiments smeared on walks, trash on floor
When we got our food it was not correct & Linda our waitress (the only kind soul in this place) said let me make it right. She went to the loud mouthed girl who was more worried about trying to get into the managers pants than anything She politely said we need to correct this & was given a big "what the f is the problem, I did it". Linda said nothing & started to make the food herself, as the girl & other employees did nothing.
Absolutely disgusting!
Awful!! We waited 40 minutes to get our food. When it finally came, the burgers were slightly warm and the salads were not done because they ran out of bowls. This had not been communicated to us. We had to complain twice to get any action. By the end of our meal, we were going to ask for at least the salads to be comped, but they did go ahead and come the whole meal. The manager was not very helpful when we first made them aware of the situation. Training on communication should be done. I realize that restaurants occasionally get overwhelmed, but they need to remember their customer service and focus!
Where to start.went to the one on Barry Road, first my daughter's burger had hair on top of her bun. They did replace it and that's all. Second, we ordered shakes to go..they didn't come as to go. Told them it was suppose to be to go, they brought us two to go cups instead of them taking them back and put them in cups themselves. Next, one of the shakes was suppose to have been strawberry/banana..got all strawberry. Told the manager the person who makes shakes made the wrong shake. All I got was, I'm sorry about that..no "I will remake it or it's free"nothing and this was the manager! We absolutely will never go back to that location again.NEVER! If I could give no stars here, I would.
We probably waited, along with a separate party of 2 and another of 1, a good 20 minutes with 4 servers walking right past us before seating. The entire restaurant was filled with dissatisfied customers waiting for their food, check, drink refill, or even to get their order taken. It was as if the servers had no idea what they were doing. This has become the expected norm for this location.
However, shortly after we were sat down, a server named Danielle walked in and completely turned the atmosphere in the store around. I watched her tables get sat, order taken, drinks served, and food brought out in the same duration of time we were simply waiting on the food to arrive. She started seating people immediately, checking in on tables that weren't hers, and essentially running the restaurant. She was doing far more work than the man I can only infer was the manager by the bright red tie he wore in place of the usual black bow tie.
If you're cool with the greasy (but good) burgers, go in during dinner hours and tip this lady extra. Lord knows she deserves it.
The place was empty but we were seated at the booth right by the cash register. The staff kept congregating by the register arguing loudly about who had to stay and work. When our order came the famous fries were cold and the fancy burger looked nothing like the picture. I wanted a shake to go but decided to take my business elsewhere.
My wife and I sat by the servers booth and the employees (young girls) was talking about poking butt,rude, manager was doing all the work while the young ladies were playing around. Food came wrong!!! What a WASTE OF MONEY.NO STARS
Waited forever, was overcharged and not given a receipt to cover it up, order was wrong, fries were stale and rubbery. It's sad I love this chain, but this place like so many in the area seems plagued by terrible management and crew.
We went in at around 1:30 in the morning, with a fairly large group. The waitress we had was slow and clueless on how to take care of a large group. There was hardly anyone there besides us , took forever between getting our drink orders and actually taking our food orders! Then an eternity passed before any food started to come, then they had no idea who ordered what, when they thought they had all of us taken cared for ,two of our party still didn't have anything to eat!!! Paying for the meals was a circus ,trying to figure who had what, she had all the drinks on one ticket and all the food on another . We were there for 2 hours and not by choice. I thought that thru all this our group was polite and I believe one actually left gratuity ,which I felt was undeserved!! I'm normally not one to criticize, but this experience was really to much. Have been in this same establishment a couple different times during the day and the service was time was good along with the food. The food I might had was still good, just horrible service !!!!
Good service, reasonable prices,but the food was below average for a burger joint. Ordered a chocolate shake to go, waited 15 minutes for it as the substitute waitress didn't return. The owner went to get one and brought a caramel shake. We didn't discover the mix up until we were already on the highway. Probably won't go back. Good atmosphere, though.
I was disappointed. My order was wrong at the window, asked them to fix it and it was still wrong when I got home. The taco salad was very good even though they didn't offer any salsa or salad dressing with it.
Absolutely the worst steak and shake in Kansas City. Took 5 min for me to be seated when I was the only person up there and the joint was almost empty. The table was still dirty and the waitress never created us just took another 10 min to ask about our drinks. 30 min later my food came out cold and hard.
My husband I were in Steak N Shake before we headed back home. When we walked in the sign said to wait to be seated. We stood there for a good five minutes before we were even seated while many servers looked at us and kept walking. Mind you it wasn't busy at all. We were finally seated and order our drinks and food. We got our drinks then it had been almost an hour. We decided to leave we walked up to the counter to pay for the drinks and shake and told them we were done waiting and needed to get on the road. The server spoke to the joke of a manager and said they could give us our food to go we said no thank you we need to get on the road. I have never walked out of a place before. We left and went to McDonald's to get food. While we were there as well there were about 3 people that walked out as well. And there was a young girl that didn't even get her food. I will never stop there again.
I visited Steak 'n Shake for my birthday. The fries were cold, and the service was spotty at best. The waitress brought us drinks, which were finished before the food arrived, and the next time drinks were brought was after all the food was finished, and I had to stop her and ask for a refill. It was moderately busy at the time, so I can understand feeling overwhelmed, but it wouldn't hurt to ask. Additionally, the fries were old. Finally, my roommate paid the bill, and came back to the table. When we were all done, we left, only to be followed out by another waitress, as well as our own, and harassed about paying the bill. Even when presented with the receipt, which has time, date, approval status and number, and the last four digits of the card number, they insisted on him coming inside to prove he paid. This was by far the worst experience I've had here, and frankly if I could review for zero stars, I would.
We were a party of 5 at the Liberty Mo location. 2 adults 3 kids. We stood at the door 6 minutes waiting to be seated we were looked at by servers but never acknowledged finally asked to be seated. Once seated we sat for 9 minutes again we were looked at by several servers but again never unacknowledged finally asked to be waited on.
Drinks were brought with very little ice in the water and short 1 straw. It took another 7 minutes to get acknowledged so we could ask for a straw. We finally got our order and there was a hair in the food. We told them we can not eat at this point and left. The waitress did apologize and handed the kids their cruisers. Very disappointing and by far the worst steak n shake I have ever been to.
