Established on July 16, 1950 in Rochester, NY by a small group of Ukrainian immigrants of the Orthodox faith. The first Holy Liturgy was celebrated by Rev. Wasyl Umanetz in a small rented building on Sellinger Street in Rochester, NY
St. Mary the Protectress Ukrainian Orthodox Church is located at 3176 St. Paul Boulevard in Irondequoit, in the greater Rochester, NY area. The parish serves approximately 200 families of Ukrainian and non-Ukrainian descent. The parish is part of the Central Eparchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA, which is in communion with the Ecumenical Patriarchate. The parish serves under the leadership of His Beatitude Metropolitan Constantine and Very Rev. Igor Krekhovetsky serving as pastor.
