St John is a wonderful and vibrant parish for so many reasons. 7 pm Sunday Mass is always busy, the college and young families make it unique, being across from the Convention Center, the doors are literally open to many visitors, the historical aspects constantly amaze me, daily Confession and noontide Mass makes it a great opportunity to practice our faith. The music, that phenomenal organ, is one of a kind. I don't know the Adoration schedule but often stop in for prayers. Parking for Mass is free if you see an usher for a voucher.

An absolute treasure of a church. This church has some of the kindest, most genuine people I have ever had the pleasure to meet. I've been around the Catholic block so to speak, and St.John's Indy has made me a very happy and fulfilled person and has me eagerly looking forward to mass. Fr.Nagel is a gem in this treasure chest in the city, he's very kind, approachable, relevant, yet keeps it grounded and doesn't get too out there with the contemporary. He's by far one of my all time favorite priests to hear. I'm an organist and have been around playing for masses so I've meet a lot of less than spectacular men of the cloth.
Something also must be said for this space, it is absolutely gorgeous. In an era where places are trying to make the church feel like your living room with gaudy paintings, tacky fixtures, and worst of all CARPET. It's so wonderful to come to a place such as this and be welcomed in a dignified and respectable place of spiritual fulfillment. I would argue that this is the most beautiful space in the city of Indianapolis, maybe Sacred Heart is in that running too. I've been to the Episcopal churches and the Catholic ones, and this has them beat. I highly recommend this church to all who have never been, and I speak highly of it to my friends and family. I love it so much here I drive up from Bloomington for mass.response / report this review -

Father Rick is the priest here and I'm much obliged to say he is a great asset to this Cathedral. He is Young and approachable. The cathedral itself is beautiful, magnificent in architecture, as well as very authentic and original.

A very nice cathedral-like church with a lovely mass. The service was excellent here.
My only complaints are that the pews were creaky and as a 6'4" guy, I had very limited leg room when kneeling.response / report this review
