They have a nice thrift store at 13th & Kentucky but they only give a few pieces of clothes (maybe one outfit) to the poor, once every 3 months. They used to be more generous with their clothes and give out more, but they've greatly restricted this to basically one outfit (or 5 pieces of clothes) once every 3 months. The need for warm clothes is so great among the poor and homeless, it would be nice if they'd be a little more generous with their clothes and give out more. Penn House also gives away free things but they run out of things, with the large number of people who come and need things. I do think the public should give their warm clothing donations to Penn House because they give everything away free to the poor, where St. John's thrift store does not and they greatly restrict what they give away to the poor and homeless.
No place in Lawrence you want to see then St John the Evangelist!
It is very welcoming to new comers.
Great parish!
The best place to gain assistance for the poor
