A little church with a lot of heart! Very welcoming, friendly folks. Great neighborhood--walkable, plenty of good restaurants, bakeries, and historic sites all close by. The new rector at St. John's is terrific. Good, relevant preaching. And not your typical priest. She's been to Burning Man the past two years!

Outstanding experience. The guides clearly have a passion for the material and the era. Mr. Charlie Brown did a fantastic job setting the scene and transporting you through time.

Fantastical piece of history, the spot where Patrick Henry gave his "Hive me liberty or give me death" speech to Virginia delegates. The grounds and church, which is still an active place of worship, are well maintained. The living historian, Ray, was fantastic. He's a wealth or knowledge and a great orator.

Fantastic experience! Ray was our tour guide and was perfect. We are civil war reenactors and also attorneys, he was thrilled to talk all things history with us as well about Patrick Henry's legal career. His interpretation in the church was very lively and entertaining.

We just walked the grounds and looked at the tombstones and Edger Allen Poe's mothers grave. So much history on such a small plot of land.

Beautiful old church with so much history. The grounds are covered with gravestones. The inside of the church looks like it hasn't changed much in hundreds of years. Looking forward to visiting again in the Spring to hear the reenactment of Patrick Henry's famous "Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death" speech.

History comes alive. Our guide Michael was very efficient and made us feel the presence of Patrick Henry right there.

A flawless inside show. Energizing to the American patriot. But the administration though is a bit tightly wound, and does not appreciate outside reenactors, nor are guest reenactors recognized. Don't go as a reenactor, go as a sheep to a disney tourist attraction. The outside in line interaction is horrible. The inside scripting is good, the setting fantastic, the inside actors marvelous. $5 donation, give more if you can. Always get the advance brown bag tickets to get in early. Go, see the show. Stop after and meet the actors, they are knowledgable of the events of the time.

Right in the middle of historic Church Hill, this wonderful historic property is a great place to visit while taking in the sites of Richmond's oldest neighborhood!

History at its finest. A beautifully preserved historical church, which is still being used to serve the community. You can spend the day there, Sunday morning church service and a historical reenactment of Patrick Henry's famous speech in the afternoon. Thank you, thank you to St. Johns staff and parishioners for your dedication to the church and it's history, our history.
