We are a Roman Catholic parish community located within the diocese of Youngstown, Ohio and found on the westside of Massillon , Ohio - a small town of about 35,000 situated in northeast Ohio 55 miles southwest of Cleveland.
St. Barbara's was established in 1867 under Bishop Amadeus Rapp the bishop of what was then the Diocese of Cleveland. Our school was founded a year previously in 1866. For over 144 years St. Barbara's has witnessed the Good News of Jesus Christ to the citizens of our community and beyond.
We are a vibrant blue collar parish comprised of descendants of German immigrants who came to Massillon looking for a better life in America. Our ancestors in Faith were hard working coal miners who worked the mines in an area that was formerly known as “ West Brookfield .” The parish was fittingly placed under the patronage of St. Barbara who is the patroness of coal miners.
We hope you enjoy your visit to our facebook page. Feel free to visit us often.

If you receive a text from Fr. Brian that starts with your name, followed by “I need a favor from you, please text me back as soon as possible Rev. Brian Cline”, please do NOT respond. It is a scam.
If you respond, you will be asked to buy gift cards for someone battling cancer. Someone has hacked Fr. Brian’s contacts and is trying to scam people for gift cards. Please know that Fr. Brian would never reach out for financial support in this manner.
We are looking into this and corrective action will be taken.
Please pray for Bishop Murry!
Pray for Bishop Murry, the clergy, and faithful of our Diocese as we move towards pastoral regions. The details for our region Stark County West are on page 2 after Bishop Murry’s letter. Additional notes and explanation of terms are on the page before the map of the diocese.
Congratulations Fr. Simon Mino!

Pray for our new deacons!
Almighty God, We stand before you today, People of many faiths and traditions, But people who have this in common: We are people of remembrance.
We remember today men and women of courage. And honor. And sacrifice. We remember those who gave their lives in service to our country — All so that we could stand before you, as we do this day, Warmed by the bright light of freedom.
We remember them. And we pray today that you remember them, too. Gracious and merciful God, We ...ask that you hold in your embrace those who have gone before us. We ask that you hold us close, as well.
This is our prayer: that you heal those who are broken. That you comfort those who grieve. That you grant us, above all, the deepest yearning of our hearts: a world of peace. Heavenly Father, help us to live our lives in tribute to those we honor and remember this day. May we be worthy of their legacy.
And may we leave to those who come after us What we have received: this blessed land. A land of justice and freedom, a land of generous hearts and boundless hope. We ask all this in your name. Amen.
