Spoon River is a farm-to-fork-style restaurant located in historic downtown Belhaven, NC, just steps away from the Pungo River. Our mission is to serve artful food in a unique environment.
Our menus change weekly, sometimes daily, based on what is local and fresh. We believe in North Carolina agriculture and connecting with local growers.
We have a full and extensive wine shop on the premise. Guests are encouraged to choose their bottle of wine for their meal.
We also have wine by the glass, craft beer, and cocktails. Whether coming by land or sea, we will be sure to give you an artful experience.
Private Events:
We host private parties, receptions, and rehearsal dinners. We create turn-key events, taking care of all the details (including decorating, flowers, food etc.) Every event is custom to your unique wants and needs.

This weekend marks seven months since #HurricaneFlorence and we’re finally REOPENING SATURDAY!!! This is not a drill! 🙌🏽 Saturday night + Sunday brunch will be ʀᴇsᴇʀᴠᴀᴛɪᴏɴs ᴏɴʟʏ and as always, reservations can be made by texting 252.945.3899 📲 Seating will be limited this weekend.
We do have two requests as we get back into the swing of things: Please be aware + understanding as we work out the kinks of our new space, equipment, and staff (we’ll certainly be rusty after all this time) and please allow Teresa these last few days to wrap up the final details, without distraction.
It took three years to open Spoon River originally in 2012 (after Hurricane Irene hit in 2011), so while familiar, it still feels extraordinarily different this time. We are forever grateful for all the kind words + encouragement since the storm, and we are sᴏ ᴇxᴄɪᴛᴇᴅ to see all your faces back in the restaurant! #CarolinaStrong

An April Fools joke would just be cruel at this point, so we’re going with progress pics instead. Also #notanaprilfoolsjoke is the new structural issues that popped up when we tried that practice run dinner. 😬 This is why we’re easing back into this cautiously, we’re STILL finding out about damage - even after already overhauling the plumbing and pipes. The logistics of what it’s takes for a commercial kitchen to operate fully, in a building this old, are maddening. But we’re almost there!

Are we ready to open the doors? Absolutely not. The dining room is undecorated + empty, we don’t have our computer system yet, we haven’t even started taking reservations or gotten the bar fully stocked. It might not seem like much, but having equipment filling the #kitchen is a BIG deal after being closed for six months. We’re in the short rows now. We’ll have a reopening date soon, and the moment we’re 1000% confident in that date, we’ll post it (and how to make reservations). No one is more upset with how long this has taken than us, but we’re getting there, albeit slowly. And we’re so thankful for your patience and understanding, we will absolutely make it worth this wait.
