We always seem to be at this airport in the middle of the day (taking trains to and from Chcago) so maybe I don't see the big picture.
But this well built and expansive airport doesn't see to have the traffic to support it. That's not a complaint it's a more an amazement -- it's so clean and roomy and well designed to make you feel good.
Love the quick security. Airport itself is awesome 5 Stars
United service desk needs a lesson in common courtesy. 2 Stars
We flew to Aruba last November with Delta. No problems at all! I love this airport.
I didn't really mind paying the extra money it took to fly to Oregon because driving through the Chicago traffic makes me really nervous howeverthe staff at United has a terrible work ethic! Last time I was there, they refused to acknowledge that my daughter and I were standing at the counter for what felt like 20 minutes. After we checked our bags, we had to put up with the TSA guy who obviously never heard of showers or deodorant wanting to get all up and personal with his wand!
The airport itself is nice, but DO NOT fly United from here unless you want rude and unhelpful service. Staff at the front desk were irritable, and they refused to acknowledge that we were standing right in front of them waiting to check in. We were the only ones in line. Three people standing there with NO OTHER job to do. So we missed the flight and then we were told it was our problem and we had to figure it out ourselves. We were scoffed at when we asked about connecting flights out of Chicago, and just ended up having to buy a bus ticket.
Seriously the worst customer service I've had at any airport in my life.
Great lil airport! Easy n cheap to fly into and out of If you're traveling to anywhere near Fort Wayne, IN, this airport is better than flying into or out of than FWA. And flights are cheaper!
If you've never landed before taking off, catch a flight from here to Chicago. You'll see what I mean. Always a place to park, trains to Chicago have always been on time. Airport expansion is very nice. But as with many small airports, flying here was not the norm for me because prices were almost always high. Still, a great little airport. On some landings, you'll get an incredible view of Notre Dame.
Last year was my first time flying. I had never gone through an airport security line before or anything like that. Their security officer was very, VERY helpful. I wish I remembered her name. She explained everything thoroughly and clearly in a friendly manner. At first, I was nervous about airport security, but she definitely made that go away! Wonderful experience.
