Very peaceful and relaxing.
Beautiful and awesome!
After finding a remote spot at another campground last year, my boyfriend and I knew what we wanted. We found this campground to be better than we could have dreamed. We got a site at Red Pine which was 17 miles from base campground. Bob took us to our site on a pontoon boat. No lights on the lake were visible at night, providing us with perfect stargazing. Women were so friendly upon check in. We were hours later than we expected so they put us up at the base camp and brought us to our intended campsite in the morning. Our site was Lake front and behind us was an enchanted forest. Cannot wait to go back.
Beautiful location but the bathrooms and facilities are not being kept up well and getting very run down. Place needs a major facelift Laundry room washings machines are all broken and not replaced
Awesome campground with a beach, dock, and views.
Quiet and friendly campground
Yep the administration side of the campground as an operation is definitely "wanting". I was once left out on the lake (ported up with my canoe to Half moon) and forgot about :) Although I enjoy an adventure, this negligence could be disastrous. This isn't a problem if you are at the campground.
This years funny story: The nice woman while trying to adhere to my request for a quiet site away from everyone had me follow along with her on the site map, for what appeared to be a long distance from the office but ended up being directly behind the office only 25 feet away. We laughed for the entire stay about her sense of direction.
Phone coverage in that area is pretty much none existent. I believe the office gets coverage as long as the weather is clear, which leads me to believe they may have satellite cell of sorts. This is not their fault- this is the woods.
Now, the lake. it's amazing! 17 miles long, great fishing, and boats with motors ARE allowed. I personally like the loons at dusk. I love the lake, upside down administration and all.
They don't respond to e-mails or phone messages to make reservations, very poorly run
WATCH OUT for hidden fees. We were never told that this was canoe access only. That wasn't the problem. The problem is that they wanted $40 per trip each way. I have two family members that traveled ahead of me but had to wait at the desk because they were going to charge us $40 dollars twice each way. Once for them and once for us. KEEP in mind that I was never informed about these fees or that it was Canoe ACCESS ONLY. The lady admitted that the person taking the reservations was wrong in not informing us of canoe access only but that "it wasn't her fault and that there was nothing that she could" or was willing to do to negate the hidden fees. She couldn't appreciate the severity of the situation and WAS ONLY out to make a buck. It would have cost us $80 dollars every time we wanted to leave the island. That is more than the campsite cost. ONE WOULD HOPE that this information would be disclosed. There was not mention at any point in the conversation about this. PLEASE don't be duped by these TRICKSTERS. They only care about $$$. I don't usually follow through with these reviews even at my maddest but I am furious right now. My poor aunt has driven 4 HOURS! to get there and she has to drive 2 more to come back to my house and do you think those people care??? What a joke!!! I have never (I REPEAT NEVER) met a person or company that makes a mistake and then blatantly REFUSES TO MAKE IT RIGHT. CAMPER BE WARE!!! You've been warned!!!
