Stopped for a quick bite on our way back to Wisconsin. Bbq burgers were the best I can recall ever having at a restraunt. Service was fast also. 40 minutes in and out the door.

Can I give Negative stars? This place was Horrible! It's outdated and gross. The waitress was nice but we had to keep calling her over for drinks, etc. The salad bar you get with your over priced meal had no lettuce. The macaroni salad was spoiled. Then we got our meals. WHAT is a steak house doing sending poor cuts, and not correctly cooked? My husband ordered the porterhouse med rare. It was well done on one side and raw on the other. I order the fried shrimp. YUCK! It was mushy and had a horrible after taste. After complaining the waitress was nice and didn't make us pay for anything even though we offered. I would NOT recommend It!

Good back story to their "fancy" decor. Pulled pork sandwich was nothing special. Yummy mashed potatoes and I always like a salad bar! Pretty nice view of the river.

When you walk in, the general look and feel of the place feels ancient and outdated. The food we received was luke-warm, luckily they brought us out a fresh side. The hamburger I received was very messy and hard to eat. Wasn't bad, but nothing that sticks out.

Passing through today, we were looking for some good fried fish to enjoy for dinner along the Mississippi. We found this place and took a seat at the bar. The bartender started complaining to us about other customers before even taking our order. Okay, I don't mind much, I can relate to the food service struggle.
Once the food was ready, we tried to eat, but three employees were sitting right next to us complaining and talking so loud to each other that I couldn't even hold a conversation with my friend. I've of course eaten at a lot of bars before without this problem.
We picked up and moved to the back dining area, and tried to enjoy our meals, but my $14 "grilled" whole catfish plate was lukewarm, undercooked, and a chore to separate from the bones. There is more to describe, but I won't bother.
Like others have said, the food is lacking, which is a shame. The kitchen manager should step up the quality, since this could be more than a divebar greasy spoon.response / report this review -

On July 13,2017 met with family members for what we thought would be a fun night. We only get to Iowa about once a year so were looking forward to being with them. It was a Thursday so weren't expecting to wait 45 minutes for our order! People who ordered after us were getting their food before us and when ours came it was not hot. Server informed us there was only one cook and kept telling us our food would be out next. To compensate for our wait she took the cost of beverages off our bill. Maybe next time you will be better prepared for all the extra people in the area for the John Deere Classic. Wont be back!!!

Great dive bar, terrible restaurant. Wish they'd revamp their cooking game and make this a proper steak house. The carpet, etc, hasn't been changed since the 1970s I'd guess, and the food is low-quality and also has a '70s vibe. Until then, it's a good place to get a domestic beer or a strong pour of booze and hang out. In winter, they build a big fire in the bar area. Very cozy.

It was OK. Seated right away. Long wait for food - cheeseburgers and fries. Messed up my order, but quick to fix it. Food was OK. I think Culver's has better burgers and fries. Not overly impressed.

Can't believe living here my whole life that I have never been here. Leave the steak sauce alone, you won't need it. Way more food than we could eat. Friendly and the waitress always seemed to be around. We each took half or more of our food home and we're both ready for naps. Awesomeness

Waitress was very friendly and was an excellent awesome server. I'll ask for Kim every time. It was a breath of fresh air to dine at a friendly warm place. Food was good employees were nice

The restaurant is old and dingy. We spent most of our time swatting flies. The ties hanging only gave it a dirtier feeling. As for the food my steak sandwich had no flavor what so ever. I had to put steak sauce on it just to eat it. I would have gotten the bathtub salad bar but the tub looked filthy. The salad didn't look good either. The waitress tried to make things better but it didn't help.

Ate their twice while on vacation. The burgers are awesome..definitely fresh. The second time was for dinner. One of the best steaks I have ever had! Would have given them 5 stars except for the service. Was never asked how our meal was or if we wanted another drink. Regardless the main menu food was excellent and cooked perfectly. Kudos to the chef.
