Burnt ends didnt seem as "end" as they should be. flavor (of meat) was great but seemed like there were lots of regular pcs of brisket mixed in as well.(not truly all bunt ends) Sauce was mediocre. Had to ask for pickles, onions and jalepenos bc only 2 bread and butter pickles were on plate and looked at kinda rude when everyone in our party asked for a few extra. (bread and butter pickles with bbq....is this is thang?)
this is the first BBQ place ive EVER eaten at where everyone in our party (3) had to take a dump before leaving.. and still messing with our stomachs. maybe 12:30 is a bad time to eat lunch on a tuesday or i got unlucky.. either way... ill just stick to what i know as far as KC bbq is concerned.
Great BBQ, great service, but so-so sauce. Recommend asking for meats with just the dry rub and the sauce on the side unless you really like Kraft Original BBQ sauce. Brisket and sliced pork were tender and flavorful. Just wish they weren't so lost in the slathered sauce. Turtle cheesecake excellent end to the meal.
Make sure you come hungry cause they sure go big or go home when it comes to meat! I had the baby back ribs and I've never seen ribs even close to that size before. They were about $17 for them and 2 sides.
Everything was delicious. The meat was tender and smokey; the cheesy corn was thick; and the fries had a satisfying crunch.
Definitely coming back.
I was visiting family in KC and we got takeout from Smokehouse. Wow! The burnt ends are amazing! I don't know what was going on with the burnt ends in some of the negative reviews, but the ones we had are those against which all others are measured. I will definitely be coming here and repeating this meal every time I'm in KC.
We ordered a lot of sides for the family and everything was good. The meat was by far the star, but the sides were all great compliments to the meat.
This is what I consider an upscale BBQ place. While you visit do try the Pickle Fries and the BBQ beans. You can taste the smoke flavor cooked into the beans. The portions and price are right for the style restaurant.
This visit to The Smokehouse was very enjoyable
We had the BBQ RIB PLATTERS My son and I went for Sat lunch. The RIB almost fell off the bone. The beans and fries were great. I tried the sweet BBQ Sauce it was delicious
Get time. Our server Ryan was very helpful
We will be back again soon
LOVE the smoked sausage and the corn nuggets. What really sets this place apart are the seasonal dinners that pair food with local beers. An awesome event. The bartenders have some great infusions and specialty cocktails. Much more than JUST BBQ.
Food was good and hot! Drinks were great! Staff was exceptionally friendly!! The manager walked the floor ready to assist! She was very friendly and greated the customers!
Thanks Jerry (female) for such a great experience!
Got take out on the way to our hotel. Even though we showed up and ordered about 30 minutes before close, the service was completely amazing! I felt like I had reconnected with a long lost friend. The BBQ was incredible as well. The ribs are fantastic and you could make a meal itself out of the beans. It was SO MUCH FOOD! Absolutely loved this place and would recommend it to anyone passing through.
It was an okay place, the BBQ sauce was a little plain. It seemed to fall flat, the meats we're good, moist cuts of chicken and beef. The bread was fresh. The potato salad was decent but also could use a little more life in it's flavor. The price point was a little high for middle of the road flavor. It doesn't scream out for a need to go back again.
On our way down to Branson on a long road trip and stopped here since I grew up south of KC and have fond memories of the BBQ.
The pros: our server was kind, we were seated quickly, the food smelled like heaven, the meat on the wings was perfectly smoked, very clean.
The cons: our server was incredibly inefficient (often making several trips for basic things that could have all been done in one trip, forgetting our drinks, etc.), the food was drowned in a WAY too sweet barbecue sauce and the prices did not match the quality of the food.
If we were to come back, we might ask for the meat with no sauce and see how it is, but overall we weren't impressed.
Of all BBQ restaurants, this was absolutely the best I've found anywhere! I've had the best brisket in Texas (it's amazing) at our daughter-in-law's reception in 2012, eaten at Rudy's in the Austin Area, and other great restaurants.
On a family vacation, we ate there July 2014. Though it was later in the evening, we were treated very well by the staff. We had a selection of ribs that was to die for. It was almost a religious experience. Enough gushing. This was a great place to eat!
