Wonderful place to ride. There are some room for improvements; with that, they are under new ownership and I believe the improvements are likely to happen. Over all, wonderful experience, great trails, and awesome staff! I highly recommend Dave as a Wrangler, he is very courteous and knowledgeable!!

We were there June 8 to June 11 , 2017 . Was our first visit and will not be our last !! We absolutely loved it there . We stayed at the Longhorn Cabin . Great cabin , very cleaned the deck was our favorite spot at the cabin . Jessica the ranch hand and James the owner were our guides on the trails . OUTSTANDING !!!! We love you guys . Thank you for showing us a good time at a beautiful resort . Still laughing about that wild turkey . Mike and Doris Danforth ( Whitehall , Ohio )

Very relaxing- safe stalls for our horses-nice hot tub to relax in- friendly people working there- love the choices of riding- arena, easy trails or harder trails. Scenery is beautiful on the trails in most areas- deluxe cabins have had some work done to them and are nice. In the summer the pool is nice to cool off & let the kids play. Relaxing around a campfire at night is so peaceful. Just love it there!

I have been a customer for many years. I have gone riding many times never had any problems. They are all great there they treat my son as part of their family. He has rode many times and he is tooo little to ride the trails yet but we ride in the indoor arena with him. When you rent a horse you also get a wrangler the entire time to help you with the horse and you going the same direction. They treat us like we are part of their family every time we have been in. And will continue to go their for as long as I can.

Buyer beware -- ask lots of questions.

We went horseback riding here late last Summer and had the time of our lives. Best ever riding experience. Paid for an hour ride and ended up being on the trails for over an hour.

Went last weekend (3/19/11) and had the exact opposite experience. The wranglers gave us two brand new horses they just bought during the preceding week and neither was trail ready. One of our teenage girls had to trade with a wrangler, and even she had problems with the horse. The other horse had to be tethered to the other wrangler "ponied" and led around by its leash. Not what we bargained for. In addition, we didn't get to ride on any trails. The wrangler said it was too wet. Interesting comment, considering we rode in the summer in a driving rain storm. We also only got 1/2 hour in the saddle actually riding. Took a 13 minute walk down a lane to the their club house and back again. For the crazy rate of $35.00 a person.

We complained and asked why our experience was so different from the last trip. We were informed that one of the wranglers had a riding lesson she had to give and had to get back to the riding ring. We were informed that other wranglers might be available and we could pay an additional fee to go on a longer trail ride. Informed them that we would not pay anything more and that we were very disappointed for the short trip we received. To the wrangler's credit she went into the office and spoke to the cashier, who ended up refunding us $70 off of our original $175 cost. I appreciate that they recognized they greatly short changed us, but given the fact that two of the horses were totally not trail ready and that we got just shy of 1/2 hour in the saddle, the refund should have been greater.

Again, Buyer Beware. Make sure you ask if you'll be riding on trails or just down the road to their clubhouse. And ask if they are trying to break in new horses, or if they are going to be providing you with trail ready, experienced horses. Because if we had known to ask we would not have wasted the time going there this last trip.

I may go back again someday, but not too soon, as the feeling of getting fleeced is still too strong. And, I may never talk my wife into going back at all -- she cannot stand feeling she has been taken advantage of. So, please live and learn by our experience and ask a lot of questions before committing to Smoke Rise Ranch for a horseback riding outing.
