Smashing Tomato is my favorite pizza chain because I love the brick oven crust and the gourmet toppings. It reminds me of a really good NYC pizza--like Lombardi's or some place like that. But it's way more affordable. I always get the Quattro formaggi, Neopolitan, wet, with blackened chicken, roasted red peppers, and sun-dried tomatoes. Yum!

AMAZING FOOD! FANTASTIC SERVICE! The staff here makes every meal so enjoyable for me! If something is wrong or slightly overcooked, they will do what they can to make you happy! I believe his name is Gonzo, but he is by far the best employee they have there. He is so attentive and always recommends the best pizzas.

This place is clean, calm, and friendly!! A must try, authentic pizza place!

Love this place! We always try to catch a meal here when we are in Lexington. The pizza is fantastic and the salads are some of the best I've ever had! The KY Cobb (pictured) is particularly good. The staff was friendly and attentive. The restaurant was clean and pleasant to be in. They were able to accommodate my 4 children with high chairs and children's menu items. They are reasonably priced. Most of all, the food is absolutely delicious. Can not recommend Smashing Tomato (not to be confused with Snappy Tomato which is by all accounts a less impressive establishment) highly enough.

Overpriced, especially at a place where you order at a counter and clear your own dishes. Pizza was good, but the ingredients were all sort of dumped in a pile on it. Sauce left about 3 inches of bare crust with no toppings. If they took more care in assembly it could have been great. Salad was great. Kids meal was HORRIBLE. $4 for a "kids meal" = dish of plain penne that had been cooked several hours ago and then reheated. See photo. Excluding the kids meal, a pizza + salad + drink costs ~$21. At $13-15 it would be okay. At $21 I won't return.

We've been here more than a handful of times which have been good, but last two times not so much. Here is the review of the most recent...
Our order was rounded up to $28, a regular salad, pizza, artichoke dip, and two drinks. Quick service, only the dip came with 3 slices of bread! That's silly to expect 2 people to eat all the dip on 3 slices, the last being a flip of the coin. I asked for more bread... one more slice. I give up, my fiancee like this place as its always been our go to for dining on the weekend, but ill pass.

I'm talking about the Smashing tomato over behind Fayette Mall. The food is delicious, however we have difficult time each time finding a CLEAN table. The chairs always have crumbs on them, because when they wipe the tables off, the crumbs go on the chairs.
Also when we are sitting, we noticed when they do wipe tables off, it's more less a quick hit and miss. Once in past, I've actually asked someone for a clean rag to wipe my table off with. Sometimes they carry around rags they have use for hours and use those to wipe the surfaces off. Not very sanitary..

If you go to the booth, the crumbs are sometimes left on seats of booth. It's okay if you're in blue jeans or work clothes, but if you have dress or suit on, I I recommend checking your seat before sitting down.
Again we love the food and the way the pizzas are made, but the details of wiping off tables need some work, and usually there is food on the floor under the tables.

We really liked their food and it was fast. We wish they had this back at home by our jobs. All good tasted fresh. Lunch special was only $7 and it was a small pizza and salad. Back home that would have been $10.

Came on a Monday night around 6pm and there were quite a number of people for a Monday. You order and pay at the counter and your food is brought to you. We ordered the 12 inch margherita pizza with the original chopped salad which as a dinner special is only 11.95, great deal! And I also ordered the fig and bacon salad with chicken added. The salads were huge in size. A side of chicken was only a $1 so I should've known it would be a small portion size. I wish the counter guy would've let me know, for future visits Ill be sure to add more chicken. The fig salad was good, the dressing, a bacon homey mustard was way too strong on the mustard end. The margherita pizza was very good. I love thin, crispy pizza and this place delivered. The chopped salad was good and again for what I paid was huge. My only complaint us that the salad options are kind of limited. For advertising itself as a salad, pizza, and wine place having 4 salads to pick from is limited imo. We didn't get any alcohol but I saw 6 standard beers to pick from. On Thursday's they do $10 bottles of wine which is a good deal if the selection is decent. I'll definitely be back again.

Good atmosphere. Great staff. Unique food options. My only problem with it was the pizza. There was bitter, black, charcoal-like substance all over the bottom. It was unpalatable. Coffee was great.
