It was our refuge from the doldrums of Lake MichiganMy brother and I were attempting to sail a 16' catamaran to Beaver Island, departing up the coast from Charlevoix. For several hours we had Skillagalee in our sight, knowing that it was not Beaver, but also not knowing what it wasWe sailed towards it as if by going slightly off course it would some how right our courseWhen we finally arrived on the shores of Skillagalee, we were under our own power, the wind had left usWe were greeted by a desolate island, covered with water fowl and all that comes with a sizable populationwe explored a bit, but soon became anxious as our daylight was leaving usagain under our own power, we paddled the boat away from the islandas if by plan, the wind came upon us, slowly, but surely it gained and soon we were making good timeWe arrived at Beaver Island some 14 hours after departing. Greeted here by friends, consumed with worry and one Coast Guard helicopter (unneeded)
