It was amazing! Lovely place.
Awesome state park near home. Silver Springs gets 3 stars because of deer hunting situation there. Its been pressured so much through the years that deer mostly know where the hunters are. Usually a hand full of deer come out of there. The fishing isnt really any good either in the "pond" but down by the river it can be alot of fun.
Very nice park for a walk. The springs are neat. Most paths are easy and level. Nice spot to fish a pond, lake and river in one stop. Has a snack stand and paddle boat rentals. One of my family's favorite places for a picnic. Also has trap shooting and horse trails across the road.
I love this park! So many trails!!!!! And it's pet friendly, my dogs love exploring and looking at the many squirrels and birds that live there.
With a rangers office on the complex you'd think they would police it better but nope ! people walking around drinking beer and pitbulls off the leash . I get the feeling they just don't care well I'm not being fare it's the governors fault for cutting funds and personnel 1$
Great park we come every Year for the Illinois hunting and fishing days. So many things to do that weekend. We have always a great time.
Beautiful quaint place to fish and picnic. They have much more to offer. Take child to fish or teach archery lessons. Host location of the Northern Illinois Hunting and Fishing Days every September. Going on one more day tomorrow 9-4pm.
Love going here to fish or hike. great place for family to hang out. o
Plenty of picnic areas too!
Only half an hour's drive from home, not too crowded (even for a Sunday), easy hiking trails with benches, good parking, picnic tables, clean toilets, boat rentals, refreshment shack. Big beautiful trees. Nice, peaceful setting.
Been coming here all my life. Its a great place to unwind. Have great hiking trails and you can also fish/ canoe on the Fox River. Great for picnics and you can also have parties.
I go to this park to use the trap shooting range. It is very nice because there is no charge. Bring your own thrower, clays, guns, and ammo. Just be sure to pick up your shells before you leave. It's a great time. The archery range also looks very convenient and nice.
One of the gems of Kendall county. You can fish on the Fox River or in the stocked lake on site (stocked with trout). You can also hike the trails that wind through the park abd along the river. On the west end of the park there is a boat launch and picnic areas as well as pkay ground. Groups often rent the shelter for events. There is a road here if you want a short drive through the wooded area. Its a very beautiful spot to go and enjoy nature.
Beautiful Park. Very Underrated. Access to two clean stocked lakes, and the Fox River. Hiking, Biking, and Equestrian trails wind through prairies, forests, and marshes. Friendly, and well informed staff. Clean, lots of parking. Restroom facilities nearby all major spaces in the park. Gem of the Fox Valley.
Great state park! Some of the inner parking spots seem shady. Good trails, excellent views of the lake at Silver Springs; we have fun sometimes when we run into the ducks there. The trails are well laid out and there are other people that you see there as well, which gives you an idea of where the trails lead etc.
Quiet quaint state patk.. can rent canoes paddle boats in summer for very little money
Such a great little State Park in Kendall County.. just a nice place to take a quick hike or the kids fishing!
I love fishing here. They regularly stock their ponds and catching fish is always fun. They have picnic tables set up throughout the park as well as built in charcoal grills. There are also bathrooms throughout the park that are very clean. There is a concession stand where you can get a nice small selection of food and water/pop as well as live bait.
There is also a large playground on site that is located at the larger entrance towards Fox River Rd.
You can also bring your boat or rent one to use on the main lake (Loon Lake). I have caught catfish, bass and trout here. You also have access to the Fox River and they have a dock set up there as well. They only allow electric motors on Loon Lake and you must have a permit.
There are two entrances to the park and only one of them has the dock for your boat to use on Loon Lake and the Fox River and that is located on Fox Rd closer to Fox River Road.
Although I mainly go here for fishing you can also do some biking, horse riding and hiking or just go for a nice walk. Its a very nice park!
Best place to go for a walk or hike through the woods. The two lakes are stocked every year for fishing. Miles of paths through open fields and hilly woods. The spring itself is crystal and delicious fresh water. Lots of picnic tables and grills. There are bathrooms and a concession stand.
