Ohio is being faced with a mental health epidemic of addiction that is tearing apart the communities that are affected by it. In the year 2015 there were 3,050 deaths in Ohio from drug overdoses. Every 3 hours in Ohio someone dies from their addiction, and roughly 30% of fatal car crashes in ohio are related to alcohol. On top of this more than 50% of people arrested in Ohio tested positive for an illegal substance.

Treatment for people seeking recovery has not been able to keep up with the overwhelming demand that this epidemic has created. A general lack of understanding partnered with lack of services has created an atmosphere that is hostile to people trying to recover from addiction. Felony records on top of this greatly hinder peoples abilities to find quality work/opportunities and lead to people being disenfranchised by their histories.

Silver Linings Ink recognizes the fact that many people with histories of drug addiction possess great talents. We seek to discover the artistic talents within our communities that can be turned into locally designed merchandise. Through merchandise sales, we plan on creating sources of revenue for organizations, individuals, and treatment facilities that are focused on recovery and strengthening the recovery community. We seek to empower those in recovery and to spread a message of hope to those still suffering from their addictions. Together, we can start the journey of strengthening Ohio.
