In 1969, the 500th birthday of Guru Nanak Dev Ji was celebrated at the Yuba Sutter Fairgrounds. Plans to build a Gurdwara in honor of Guru Nanak Dev Ji's sacred birth anniversary was announced to the audience. The congregation in attendance rejoiced and began to gather funds to begin construction.
On October 28, 1969, twenty-six individuals along with their families, associated together to form a Non-Profit corporation under the General Non-Profit Law of the State of California and named it SIKH TEMPLE GURDWARA, YUBA CITY. Soon thereafter, the foundation was laid for this Gurdwara. Construction proceeded, and with the grace of our Gurus, this Gurdwara began serving the Sangat in 1970. There were 26 founding members whose vision, generous contributions, and dedication to their community were monumental in establishing this Gurdwara Sahib.
