Vocals of performers heavenly!
Music was creative, not traditional. Costumes were of great quality and rich color. However, Joseph and family were confusing bouncing back and forth using the disruptive words "divorce and my wife"; before they were "married". Then when they decided to marry, "We're was the celebration?" It seems the betrothal was more important! That was celebrated like a wedding. Should had been the other way around. Over all the show was magnificently done!!
I have never been disappointed with their performances!
The theater is beautiful inside and out! The 3 sided stage makes the experience three times better :) I love seeing all the animals on the production as well. They are sooo good at what they do! The staff are always friendly and knowledgeable. The performers are so very talented.
Just when you wonder how they will depict the giant whale, under the water, and Jonah in the giant fish! lo and behold there you areright in the middle of the fish belly!
The BEST part is that, they never fail to share the good news at the end, the Gospel, sharing the love of God and what Jesus Christ has done for us. Make sure to dive into the Sight & Sound Theatres experience :)
What an Awesomely amazing experience!!! The grounds, the architecture, the interior - I was wowed even before the production started. I went to see Jonah. I would dare say that that production easily surpasses the many Broadway performances that I have seen. The story line, the costumes, the live animals on the stage everything contributed to an amazing performance. When the whale came around and swallowed Jonah - the most awe inspiring thing that I have seen. Wow. Would definitely like to go back.
Always a very inspirational first class presentation. I have never been disappointed and I have been there dozens of times. Even having seen some of the same shows five and six times, you always leave over-joyed that you went.
From the amazing scores, to the astounding actors and singers, to the effortless awe-inspiring scene changes and the live animal interactions, you are guaranteed to leave enthralled.
If you are the type that likes to go to Broadway shows, you will find that this is about 5 times bigger and better than any Broadway show you've seen. They really take the Bible, make it come to life, and leave you astounded that your reading of the Bible all of these years has been so comparatively anemic.
You WILL be amazed.
Having never attended a Sight & Sound show, I was worried that their portrayal of the Bible might have strayed too far away from the true story, as adaptions tend to do. However, I was pleasantly surprised to be proven wrong!
For their "Miracle of Christmas" show, Sight and Sound does a great job of preserving the story of Christmas while still creating an entertaining and impressive production. The facility was impressively clean and the staff was all friendly. Even sitting in the very back row gave a great view of the performance.
Also, don't underestimate those glazed almonds. They were surprisingly great.
The shows are religious themed, but even if you're not particularly religious, you should see these epic shows. Actors and live animals extend the show into the aisles (so close, Wow!) and on the sides of the theatre. It's like you are IN the scene! And in the Jonah show, it is even overhead a time or two. People come by bus-loads, from hours awayand it's worth it!
Parking is free. Grounds are beautiful and maintained well. Staff is friendly. Food is reasonably priced and actually good. And then, the show - breathtaking, professional, quality sets and actors. It lacks nothing. The last show I saw was Jonah. I was curious how they were going to pull it off without being cheesy or pulling their punches. I won't give it away, but it was so well done. I am already looking forward to seeing their next shows in the next season. I can highly recommend it to anyone, young or old.
If you would like to see a great show, please check out Sight & Sound. Talented cast (even the live animals), Incredible stage productions and always delivers. Great for the whole family and all ages. A visual feast for your eyes and beautiful music for ears.
A local one of a kind experience you won't want to miss!
Very disappointed! I purchased six tickets for Jonah (cost $300+) for my family's visit to Lancaster and was extremely upset. We had center orchestra seats 1 off the aisle. The person that sat on the aisle had a child on his lap - not an infant or a toddler but a child about 10 or 12 years old. It was very uncomfortable for my son sitting next to the aisle seat. The ushers should not permit this allowing 2 people in one chair is not fair for the person seated next to them. The family behind us had a child who talked loudly throughout the entire show. The parents really should have put a stop to it but the ushers needed to step in when the parents didn't react and the ushers did nothing. There was a baby that cried for over an hour in our section. Again, there is a family room that a parent can bring a crying baby to but if the parent just allows the baby to cry and disturb the rest of the audience then the usher should have asked them to step outside. I personally had a child kicking the back of my chair for over an hour. This is not the kind of theater that you can leave your seat and ask for assistance (during the performance actors are in the aisles) so you really need to rely on the ushers to take some action but that was not the case on August 23 when I attended the show. It was a real shame because the actors were very good, the scenery and props were sensational and the theater itself is beautiful but with all the disturbances going on around us it was difficult to concentrate on the performance. I spent a good amount of money for my family to see this show and was looking forward to it. I left the theater very frustrated by the experience. I would not recommend going to see this show.
This place is AMAZING! I'm from New York and I have seen plenty of shows, but never one like this. The building itself is beautiful and the show was spectacular. We saw Jonah and it was great, the bathrooms had attendants to make sure everything ran smoothly and the animals in the show we're happy and healthy and enjoyed their minimal rolls without any stress on them which made me very happy. I can't wait until my birthday in March when Jesus will be playing. So excited!😁
The performance at Sight and Sound was amazing! The singing and acting was inspiring. The sets were fantastic. I have taken my family to Sight and Sound for the last five years. It is a great experience for all ages. It brings the Bible to life!! This year, Jonah was awesome!
This was my first experience here. I have done theatre all my life and have seen many productions. This was absolutely amazing! We had a group of young children(ages 3-9) and they were mesmerized. They were disappointed during intermission! The cast was superb and the sets phenomenal. I will be returning !!! Terrific experience for all. Thank you for a wonderful professional production!!
This place is amazing! We go every year and it's always a great experience. This last visit we had car trouble in the parking lot. There was an employee working that went above and beyond to help us. His name was "Moose" I believe. He really turned this not-so great experience into a great trip. Thank you again Moose. After everything was done in the parking lot, he prayed with us to make it home safely.
The performances were great. Visuals were stunning. There was a bit of taking liberties with the Bible story of Jonah, but I guess that's expected for a theatrical show. If they stuck to the Bible story word for word, I don't think they'd be able to hold the attention of the audience. But with the dramatic showing and the colorful costumes, it was an excellent, well-acted show.
It was the most beautiful, real, life-like theater play, I've ever attended. I've been to about 6 diff.plays, and each one is better than the last. It comes complete with many, many different live animals, that have been lovingly trained to perform at their best! The animals parade right past you, thru the aisles of the theater, and although they ask u to refrain, u could honestly reach out and touch them at only inches away. Each play is the reenactment of a particular Bible story, that teaches strong moral and Christian values, that could be appreciated in our times, no matter what your particular religion happens to be.
