Christmas Woes. I was ecstatic to receive a new pair of Birkenstock Bostons for Christmas this year from my loving wife. Upon viewing the shoes I noticed that the size was a 44 instead of a 43. I told my wife the news at which time she said that she actually took one of my old shoes to the store since that would be the best way to match the shoe. So there is the first level of incompetence. They should have never given her the wrong size to begin with since they had a shoe to match the new ones with. After she graciously returned them for me to get a size 43, I noticed that indeed they were the right size but they were now the narrow version. I decided that I could maybe make them work and I wore then around the house for a couple hours. I was saddened to find out that they indeed did not fit and that I needed to exchange them for the size that I have always worn, a 43 regular. I went to the store to return the shoes, yet again, and they were of no help what so ever. They stated that since I wore the shoes they could not take them them back for any reason.Well if was not for the sales associate being so incompetent to begin with, none of this would be an issue. What on earth would possess someone to give a narrow shoe to someone that obviously wears a regular? Now I am stuck with a pair of $130 shoes that dont fit. The sales associate stated to me that I could possibly sell them on ebay... Really? Ebay? That is your answer to the problem? Then she told me that I can always just buy another pair! Ridiculous! I will never go to Shoesters again, nor will I ever recommend them to anyone I know. I advise everyone to go the extra mile and travel to Williamsburg to get Birkenstocks. This store has the worst customer service I have ever encountered in Hampton Roads.
