I would like to extend our deepest appreciation to all who contributed their time and energy into the renovation efforts of our organization. Dave Schreiner and KSB Plant Operations were the driving force behind the project without which this wouldn't have been possible. Pictured here are the local artists who graciously volunteered their talents to transform our newly painted walls into a safe and welcoming space for our families. Special thanks to Janet Beiler, who created an amazing woodland mural, and Nora Kate, who created the wings of a warrior. Carpetland in Rockford made an extremly generous in-kind donation of all new carpet for our entire suite and we are humbled by this. Also pictured is Antonio Currington III, one of the volunteers who installed the flooring at no cost for us with the assistance of the Chicago Regional Council of Carpenters. The work that went into this project was extensive and we appretiate everything our community is doing for us. #itsyourvoice

βMore than 90% of children who are sexually abused know their abusers.β
This is a true fact and over 68% of those abusers are family members. Talk to the children in your life about body safety. Stress the importance of no one, kids or adults, can touch anywhere on your body that makes you uncomfortable and/or is covered by a swim suit. Teaching to tell if that happens, they should continue to tell people until someone gets them help. Teach children the correct names for body parts to help deter abusers from victimizing your child. Naming correct body parts also helps if your child is ever a victim, they can tell what happened using correct names. #itsyourvoice
