"mountain momma, take me home" This place is for everyone. All walks of life have traversed through these parts. Soldiers, locals, travelers from out of state/country. This park truly embodies what being outdoors is all about. Endless scenic views, hundreds of miles of trails, hospitable rangers, and people who just want that fresh mountain air. Grab a map, this park's gonna make ya happy.

Leaves are not out in late April, but always a pleasure to visit. The deer are not afraid of cars, and neither are the bikers and walkers. The wise ravens invite you to help them with their hunt, as roads are doubtlessly the most likely places to feast on carrion. A majestic perching spot every 5 minutes. Shenandoah is where my heart will be forever.

Wonderful park! Great hiking trails. There are so many options of places to hike and what to see while you're there. Skyline Drive is very pretty. It's great that they have one giant map of the park but then they also have specific section maps so you can figure out where you're going. I only wish I lived closer!

A beautiful park. You can just take a drive or go for a long hike. So many options. There are waterfalls and plenty of wildlife. There are campgrounds and lodging in the park. Come on out and enjoy a day outside.

Amazing skyline views. I went with friends by their car twice, and we enjoyed stop by several spots to have a look over the forests, and to take photos.
The big problem about this place, that no public bus service to it, it’s very hard to go there if you don’t drive.

Great place to go camping and hiking. Well run, beautiful surroundings, lots of trails, amazing viewpoints on Black Rock Summit and Loft Mountain, friendly staff and helpful rangers. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

Tip: things (like fire starters or matches) sometimes go out of stock in the camp store, so when they are available just buy all you need for your stay instead of chancing coming back for it later.

We often runaway to here for a quick pick me up. They have lots of hiking and camping options from novice to expert. We just did a light hike with friends who have bad knees, and while even light hiking was beyond their ability, they really enjoyed grilling at Pinnacles Picnic area.

I came late October to see the fall foliage and it was stunning. The Skyline Drive provides a lot of viewpoints and there are plenty of hikes in the park that offer amazing views. I did the Little Devils stairs loop which was hard at certain parts but a lot of fun throughout. One of the Park rangers recommended it, they are very knowledgeable! This park truly is a hidden pearl.

Old Rag is such a gorgeous stop in Shenandoah! Not for the faint of heart, and definitely a highly strenuous journey if you're going to go up through the rock scrambles, but well worth the trip. I've hiked it twice and will definitely be hiking it again.

Skyline drive is 100+ miles through the blue Ridge mountains. Overlooks along the drive provide beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. Shenandoah also has an extensive trail network, including some of the most beautiful miles of the Appalachian trail. On the AT, the park has provided multiple shelters for hikers. These shelters are in very good condition. Bear sightings are common along the trails.

Be ready to drive a lot, but the drives are lovely! I recommend entering the park at the south entrance, which is closer to more camp sites than the north entrance, snagging a camp site, and stopping at visitors centers to get area maps for hiking. There are TONS of moderate difficulty hikes.

Of course, almost the whole park is heavily forested, so there is tons of shade, and it's usually about 10 degrees cooler than the surrounding lower areas, which is great in summer and worth preparing for in winter.

Awesome! Awesome! Awesome! Heaven on earth. Animals roam free, views are breath taking and the stars at night will blow you away.

Hiking is great too but beware of slippery rocks along the path. Clean bath & shower facilities in the camp grounds. LOVE this place!

An amazing Park if you're driving or if you're hiking on the Appalachian Trail lots of great places to see everything is well marked. Tons of overlooks. Abundant wildlife. There are waterfalls that you can see if you'd like. Great hiking community. Shelters and Huts are nice and they have bear poles and some places even have bear proof storage containers

There are a lot of things to do, and the campgrounds, especially Big Meadows, are nice. The Appalachian Trail runs through the park so you can hike a bit of the historic trail and perhaps encounter one of the legendary through-hikers. Skyline Drive offers nice views.

Beautiful views. Trails were nice too. The staff at the restaurants and lodge seemed tired. Housekeeping was the friendliest staff I encountered. Oh, and the park entrance people were very pleasant as well. Overall, a perfect solo getaway. Military gets a free pass into the park. That was a nice surprise.
