So beautiful & historic. Tours really worth it. Landscape is captivating with all the stone fences throughout the countryside. Food & service was superb.

Had a very good visit here. Lunch was good and the service was attentive. Walked the grounds after lunch for a little tour back to a time long forgotten. Overall, a very good visit. I mean, how you could not like a farmer with a pet goat! :)

I took family photos for some friends at Shaker Village, then walked some of their trails. The location is beautiful in the fall, with winding paths, white slat fences, old-style buildings and very colorful autumn trees. It's awesome that these trails and scenic spaces are open and free to visit. I've also been to Shaker Village before for dinner and I've taken the boat ride down the Kentucky River. I recommend both - the dining can be expensive but is delicious and served in a unique atmosphere you won't really find elsewhere. The boat ride is a fantastic way to see wildlife and beautiful river scenes, including bridges you pass under. I've only been in the boat ride in the fall, but I suspect that's the best time for it because all the trees are turning different colors.

I greatly enjoyed seeing the historic site with all of the buildings and furniture. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. The cost of the tour was reasonable. My only disappointment was that a remodeling of the parts I had wanted to see the most was going on at the time so those areas were closed. I will have to go back again to see those parts.
As an amateur furniture maker I have a special interest in their furniture and architecture. There was plenty of it to see and I was given special permission to enter restricted areas to photograph what I wanted to.

Went for lunch with family and it is a nice atmosphere for sure. The food was good but not quite spectacular. Not too expensive. I had a catfish sandwich that was about $12. Service was good. No issues so I guess that's what you really want. Overall it was a pleasant time spent with family.

I have family near by so always enjoy a visit to Shaker Village when I'm in town to 'step back in time'. We enjoy walking around, eating lunch, and a visit to the gift shops. Things have changed!! The service in the restaurant was very slow and not very friendly. We ordered the chef's version of a 'KY Hot Brown'. It was quite blah looking with a dry chunk of chicken breast on top of a fried green tomato slice. The skimpy thick sauce was made with goat cheese and a piece of bread on the side. No thanks to a new version of a classic as it was simply not plated well or tasted good! We ordered the Kale Caesar Salad. It had a good flavor but had no kale! Only spinach and the other ingredients!! I asked the waitress and she said the chef assured her there was kale in the salad. I didn't bother to argue - the Spinach Caesar Salad had a good taste! The 3 gift shops had very little merchandise. Where's all the pottery? Overall, very disappointed in my 'step back in time visit'. Probably won't make it a priority in the future..........

I loved our stay here. The food was really wonderful and the hiking trails were great. If you love history and architecture, this is the perfect weekend getaway. Prices are affordable and there are a lot of offerings. I don't get what all the negative reviews on Facebook are about. I went in skeptical because of them but ended up having a really lovely time and felt so relaxed after. If you don't appreciate sociology, history, contemporary dining or architecture- maybe this isn't the spot for you.

Not as expected from past visits. They have a new chef, which has resulted in changes to the menu. The corn bread, tomato celery soup and the cold brown sandwich are no longer served. The catfish sandwich my daughter had today was totally lacking in taste. Our grilled chicken hot brown sandwich was fair. The bread on top was so hard it was barely edible. Our turkey and rice soup was made with tiny cubes of turkey that were obviously processed and not made from turkey breast, this in spite of the waiter's statement that all soups were hand-made now. Last Thanksgiving we were pleased with the meal, but not so much today...

Shaker Village is a very interesting place, unfortunately I can only rate based on my experience and I was not able to take a guided tour or see any reenactment as I've heard happens there often. As such I can't really say it was more than a glorified walking tour on my part. The restaurant had fast and friendly service but there are many local places with better recipes. The hot brown was made with goat cheese, which I feel didn't quite go well together. The catfish sandwich was good. The lemon pie is tasty but not exactly to everyone's taste. The bourbon chocolate cake however is amazing.

We were there with a group of 40+ and were provided with a wonderful guide who was extremely knowledgeable and was able to answer every question our group asked her. We were in one of the meeting houses built with excellent acoustics. Before we left that particular house, our group sang "Sweet, Sweet Spirit" and it was a marvelous experience! We had lunch there as well, down in a basement, and it was wonderful. Everything was immaculate and every person we encountered was so courteous and helpful. We didn't have enough time there and plan to return as soon as we can. It was so peaceful there and a true breath of fresh air. I would recommend this to absolutely anyone.

I love this place! A true " step back in time experience. My son and I were there for Thanksgiving dinner. Our first visit. The food was wonderful and service was excellent. We were there for breakfast also and the buffet style, serve yourself breakfast was very Kentucky. Great! Rooms were comfortable and really have all the atmosphere we were hoping for. Gift shop is good too!

I was part of a group of eleven people visiting Shaker Village on a Monday. We were hoping to eat lunch and then take a tour of the village. Much to our dismay, we were to wait for two and a half hours. I am not taking away stars for that, however, because we should have called ahead and made reservations. The restaurant has a limited number of servers and they don't want to compromise quality by cramming the place full. I can respect that attitude. In lieu of lunch at the restaurant, they have a gift shop with sandwiches, salads and drinks. This was sufficient for our group. The little ice cream cups in the cooler are delicious. The tours we took were very informative and interesting. If you like singing and have some friends that do as well, the meeting room has some amazing acoustics and you should flex your vocal pipes in there because it's a lot of fun! I am reserving the last star until I actually have a meal there, but I'm sure the food is quite good!
