You see so many classic and new movies here it was great and my family has a wonderful time seeing justice league!
My family loves to come here for movie night. Multiple screens means multiple choices that rarely disappoint. The concession stand is fairly priced.
There aren't a ton of drive ins left to enjoy, so I appreciate that this one is still there for me and the family to go, relax, and enjoy a nice double feature. They have 2 screens, one usually plays family friendly movies and the other plays the action/suspense features. Both play a double (triple?) feature where the first movie gets played, followed by the second, and then the first plays for a second time. Its super cheap to go with family, since younger kids are free, and adults are only 8 (may have raised to 9) dollars. Id get there fairly early if youre trying to be first, there is a pretty nice line of early viewers, typically.
Clean place with helpful staff. Old yet sanitary restrooms. Keep up the good work. This place can be further enhanced if management could access more newly-released movies instead of recycling old ones for weeks.
Always has been the best place to take the kids on a summer night! Good movie selections usually and there isnt a bad spot in the lot!
We enjoy coming here but it's still cash only. Screens are kind of hard to see and they only enforce large vehicles in the back SOMETIMES so you can get really screwed if you're in a car and a large truck or SUV parks in front of you and opens the back. Can't sit on the ground either, also only enforced sometimes so if you want to sit on the ground in a beach chair, you may be able to get away with it
This place is the bomb! I used to go here years ago but I thought they closed it. I happy they have not. The wheather and view of this place are perfect all year round.
Awesome drive in, giving the classic drive in theater experience. One of the few left in the country and the Only one in San Diego This is the best way for an entire family to enjoy a movie on the big screen. We don't even go to indoor theaters anymore. Cheaper than a matinee. Great snack stand with extremely reasonable prices and if they don't have what you need there you can always bring your own in your vehicle. They even manage the parking well, placing large vehicles in the back so that the smaller cars don't end up with a high profile vehicle blocking their view of the screen. A++
I love drive ins generally. I'm lucky San Diego has two great ones! Santee and South Bay drive in are both excellent. Double features every night year round for $9 per person! These are first run movies too so you'll find the same things playing in your regular movie theaters. Car audio is great and you can hit up Fernys Mexican to grab an amazing burrito before heading in! Santee has two screens and South Bay has three. Usually there's a family friendly screen if you're bringing the kiddos.
I absolutely love Santee drive in theatres the only one thing I'd say they could improve on is quality of picture on darker scenes. However it takes you back to another time and place. If you go Friday and Saturday expect a busy scene almost packed to the brim with cars and teens being rowdy and having fun. If your looking for a more private experience or romantic setting say a date night I'd recommend planning Sunday or mon-Thursday as it's not as busy. Over all I love Santee drive in, it's a staple of American history and should be honored as a local landmark.
Classic drive in Theatre. Always showing the latest movies. Clean environment and never had any disturbances during a movie. Great place for family.
Love this instead of the outrageously priced movie theaters. Pkus bathrooms are always in good shape, traffic flows easily. And the staff is polite.
Came on a Monday night with my SO on a whim.
We had a great time!
The lot was very empty, so even though we came halfway through (for the second movie, you watch two) we were able to get a great spot. We brought our own food :-).
I'm sure they receive more business on weekends, but I really wonder how they manage to stay open.
