Nice, family-owned sandwich shop. I don't get all the hype.
Best place in all of Albany for a lunch or deli-style sandwiches. Very popular with the surrounding office works on lunch, despite being such a seemingly hidden space off of Pearl Street. Always seems to have a steady stream of customers, but the line typically moves incredibly fast; their specialty is employees with a short lunch break. Extremely friendly staff with a real authentic, tiny "family-run" feel to it. Good selection of meats, breads, and condiments with all kinds of drinks, snacks/sides, and usually a few options for small desserts. Cash only, but definitely worth a trip to the ATM around the corner (inside Jonathan's Pizza).
This place is super tasty and friendly. They get fresh rye bread daily and cook their own meats. The pastrami was delicious! They also make their own Russian dressing. I am excited to work near this spot. Sue is super friendly and talked me through their menu when I said it was my first time there.
Best sandwiches in downtown Albany. Cash only. I almost always get the homemade turkey. Half sour pickles like you get in NYC delis, too. The staff is great! Always friendly and quick service once you get to the counter.
Best turkey sandwiches and soup in the area
You won't find a better sandwich shop!
Everything is homemade and fresh. The rye sandwich is filling enough for such a cheap price.
I worked with Jim and Sue in 1980, just after they opened Sandwiches To Go, delivering lunches, working the sandwich bus on the Mall, and learning all I could from Jim. Thirty years later, I came back to the area, and they still had the best quality ingredients and laid-back good nature that set them apart way back when. Today, they've still got the best lunch to go in the Capitol District.
