This is the worst school I've ever attended. Dr.Decker is unqualified and racist but then again the entire admin. staff is like that too. During the first two weeks of school my senior year, he called a black student the "N" word and he's done this several time in the past too. The band director is worse then the principle he's a bigot, racist, and has a terrible attitude/temper but worst of all he does not care about his non white students. He cursed at students and chucks stands like an angry gorilla. Any black students in his band should know that they will not become drum majors nor a section leader. In the past he intentionally has given solos to underclassmen and combined sections to aviod letting his students of color dp more. All he cares about is his band being the best not if his students are following the rule or improving. A few years ago, when I was a senoir, a black student was being bullied and sexually harassed by some other band students. The female student said several time to many different teachers what was going on and not a single teacher helped her or believed her. Mr.Flowers only response to her clearly struggling and he said he didn't care what was happening. While these are just a few issues the past few years black students have being transferring out of this school at a high rate compared to their other peers. As an alumni I would never let my kids go to school here its a terrible school they fire any teacher who isn't going to give out easy As and actually discipline students. Mr. Dot,Mr.Duffy, and Mr.Hosler are probably the best teachers there but overall aside from a small handful of teachers this school is awful. The student council has and always will be incredibly racist as well because any student of color who hasn't become completely white washed to gain an officer position is still undermined and left out. You can even tell how racist this school is just by looking around at lunch its very segregated the majority of the white students tend to eat out by the bus parking lot and the minorities eat in the cafeteria. If I could compare this school to anything it would be "13 reason why" because it's that terrible going to school there.

I second is getting ready to graduate from Sanderson. We have very happy with the faculty and over all school. They have tremendous ROTC, sports and theater programs. We highly recommend it and believe it is one of the best high schools in North Carolina.

I've been in this school since freshman year (Junior now), and really all I can say is that it isn't a terrible place to be. I'm not fond of the changes made recently, especially to the changes concerning lunches and scheduling, but I've had a fair experience so far. If there were any criticisms I'd have to give, it would be about the use of the 3 lunch schedule. A lunch, b lunch and c lunch. To my knowledge this was announced by principal Dr.Decker first in the school year of 2013-2014, but it wasn't actually implemented until the 2014-2015 school year. Before the lunch change, students used to have an entire hour each day of school of lunch, right after 2nd period.

The ABC lunch schedule works like this: as the name implies there are 3 different times for lunches. The lunch a student would be assigned to depends completely on what their 3rd period class is. If a student has a 3rd period class downstairs in the main building, they would have A lunch. If they had a 3rd period class upstairs in the main building, they would have B lunch. If they had a 3rd period class anywhere in the east building or outside in the pods or trailers, then they would be unfortunate to have C lunch, which is a much longer wait.

This was all done as a desperate attempt made my Dr.Decker to improve the school's graduation rate (which has been laughably low in contrast to other schools in the area, correct me if I'm wrong on that). To be fair, Dr.Decker didn't want this to happen. He was pressured by the county to take an action on the matter, and he did what he had to do.

Although I do miss the days when I could see my friends for lunch each day, some things need to be done. Perhaps we can bring smart lunch back, if we petition for it, or prove that the constant efforts made by the county to boost graduation rates are failing.

Schedule issues aside, this is a pretty good school in my opinion. Study, and don't act like a goofball in class and you won't have any problems. Well, some teachers are cool with you acting like a goofball.
