Fun and interesting place to visit
I stumbled upon this fascinating place by accident on the way to the San Diego Botanical gardens which it's right next to. It was hosting an antique fair that day which made it even more interesting to visit. There are a variety of things to see and explore here including old farming equipment, an antique buggy, historic buildings and the museum itself. All the equipment, furniture and buildings are from the farming community of Olivenhain located just East of Encinitas. While the museum is fairly small, it is a nice outing especially for children to learn about the history of the local area and is staffed with knowledgeable volunteers and docents. New projects are in the works to improve the exhibits as funds are available for them.
Volunteers always welcome ! We have our annual Cook Tasting Contest October 8, 2016..we could use some more volunteers. I guarantee that you will have fun at this event. We also needs cooks/servers, professional or not.
We encourage you to see all we have to offer..we are growing!
The Museum is growing and it could turn into a special place if people in the area participate in helping it grow. I had a chance to learn more about where I now live, and would like to find out even more. The museum provides us with a chance to travel back in time, and experience how The area around us has grown and developed.
