Right by the Gaslamp, the waterfront shops, and near major hotels.
From a locals perspective, this is the ideal meeting place for larger groups, with the ballpark and so much to explore on foot within a few minutes. No need to drive in if you are a local, just park at Old Town and take the Green Line trolley in, or park somewhere along the Orange/Blue/Green lines outside of the downtown area. Avoiding the downtown parking hassles is the main issue when visiting this area. There is a waterfront park complex on the Bay side and city parks on the Gaslamp side of the Convention Center- with nice hotels on all sides within walking distance.

As far as Convention Centers go, this is a popular one for the science crowd. Nice weather, especially during the winter and fall months, proximity to the Gaslamp Quarter and the dining there, walking distance to many large capacity hotels make this a great venue. Bring comfortable walking shoes. Use the trolley if you are staying at the Hyatt - you can get a day pass for $5.

The vendors in the Center only have coffee and snack type foods. Go across the street to the Gaslamp for lunch and dinner.

Coming to a large conference in San Diego? You'll probably end up here. It's a wonderful place, well-designed, a delightfully bright and sunny area under the "tent" in the middle of the complex, lots of rooms in lots of sizes. The chairs in the North section are different from the ones South of the tent area, and it shows after spending several days listening to presentations, you crave the more comfortable side. That's about my only complaint. Have probably been there 50+ times, half of which were Comic-Con, the most wonderful and amazing event anywhere.

A nice convention center overall as it is easy to walk around and only two stories. The only complaint is that is quite long to go from end to end, especially if the Hilton hotel next to it is included.

The location can't really be beat though, as you're directly on the waterfront and right next to many wonderful restaurants.

I don't go down to the Convention Center too often ... but ... it would be a sad day to miss the opportunity to head down there for COMIC-CON! SO. MUCH. FUN. My twin sister and I got dropped off by my husband (way too difficult to find reasonably priced parking.) We met up with the rest of our family: sons, girlfriends, wives, grandchildren, and friends. The Center was nice and cool and filled with NERDS! Love that we host this event every year.

Tremendous venue. I always enjoy coming here. Rooms for every need. It's always fun to go from one end to the other to make a conference session. The place does a great job handling large groups of people. Climate inside and out is always perfect. Staff is friendly...except the guy out front keeping pedestrians out of the road. He's mean.

I visited the Convention Center this year for Comic Con. The facility itself is still nice and well maintained (I used to visit years ago) In terms of events I think the organization is improving. I didn't feel as crowded as some previous years. Obviously I'd love to see it be used more during the year for some smaller conventions perhaps.

I was here for Comic-Con 2017. This place is very nice & large. I love that it is near the water, after spending the day in & out of the Halls, you can walk near the water for a bit of calmness.

This is the best conference location and space I have been to. Hotel costs are extremely high in the area generally forcing most folks to look at other areas such as hotel circle. The only other complaint is the limited dining options for those who are wanting to eat healthy. There are are salads or salads for those who those tyring to eat balanced nutritious meals. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Parking was ample at the convention center and only $15 per day when I visited for a conference in June.

Great location right on the water with a fantastic view of the harbor. Nice architectural features. One of my favorite convention centers in the country. Adding some modern media and dining features would be a benefit. If I had my way I would use the outside of the building as a backdrop for a laser light show😀

Good Convention center. Easy to access from the airport. Attached to a good hotel and very easy to walk between the two. Plenty of seating available and power charging points. A few convenient places to get a coffee and have a private conversation. Easy access and egress for Taxis.

The staff and crew were able to handle a very large amount of people like it was no big deal. 10,000 plus and I felt like I never had to wait for anything. 4 stars because I noticed a lack of water fountains, water being available, etc... For the amount of walking you have to do here, it would have been nice to be able to access drinking water easier.

It's huge. Plan time for walking if your convention is using most of the building. I was very impressed with how clean the place was with the number of people I saw go through it. The kitchen was on top of there game and the layout was perfect for our large group of 10000+. I expected lunch to take forever but they had it planned out well.

I was impressed that I could walk the entire length in under 5 minutes. The space is great and was more than capable of handling an Adobe Max event. However, they could definitely have better chairs (cinema style), no beams that block views in the auditorium, better designed signage, better non-fluorescent lightning, water bottle filling stations and better temperature control. It was surely a great experience but it could be much better.
