We drive 1 hour from San Antonio just to eat here, it's the BEST BBQ I've had so far and I've been in Texas for all my life (20 years) and tried a lot of different places! I'm so spoiled with my BBQ that I can't have it anywhere else besides here because the flavor beats everything else! Everyone I've recommended it to feels the same way and develops a loving bond with this place! Recommend 100/10 ❤

I came with my family to celebrate my college graduation, and we absolute loved it! There is an all you can eat option, but we decided to order off the menu. I ordered brisket, and it was super flavorful with the just the right amount of moist. The ribs were juicy as well. I wasn’t a huge fan of their cole slaw but their meat is super delicious.

I would highly recommend this place for family and kids!

The plates are plenty big, but the best way to eat your money's worth at The Salt Lick is to order "family style". You'll pay a bit more than the price of a plate, but it's all-you-can-eat ribs, brisket, sausage, and all the fixin's. The best part is, they'll let you order another round just before you leave and take it home in a to-go box. Also, kids under 3 can share your family style plate for free.
I also recommend buying some garlic dry rub seasoning and some spicy BBQ sauce to take home. The rub makes a fantastic whole oven-roasted chicken, or an excellent rack of ribs, and the sauce is a perfect complement.

To be frank, the food was mostly good. The brisket was amazing and the pulled pork was well made. The only problem I had was with the lack of sauces available. I only had the option of honey mustard based sauces and really wish I had a ketchup or even barbecue flavored sauce. This was my only complaint. Otherwise a well established restaurant filled with people who come and enjoy the food ever day.

Went for a birthday dinner. Requested extra moist brisket and was told they ran out at noon and they can't keep cutting open briskets. Was told brisket would still be juicy, but it was still dry. Beans were cold. My drink was never refilled. We were given our bills and not even offered dessert. The turkey was moist, but was disappointed with rest of food and service.

Showed up tonight, tons of open tables. Hostess says she's the only hostess so it will take 35 minutes. Wait 20. Still looks like 20 people ahead. Story changes to we're on a bit of a kitchen wait and don't want to seat people while we're waiting for the kitchen to catch up. Look at kitchen. Tons of food. Story hastily changes to well it caught up but it's still going to be a while. Ridiculous. Evidently wait staff don't make money on tips so we'll remember that when the bill comes.

The meats had a deep rich flavor. The pork ribs tasted great, but did not fall off the bone and needed to cook a bit longer. Brisket was tender and had a great look and flavor. Mac and cheese looked delicious, but lacked a wow effect in taste. Sausage was amazing in flavor and portion size. The sandwich I had was a combo of diced rib, brisket and sausage meat and was amazing, again because the meats here pack deep rich flavor so the sandwich was great. Over all, it was great and I would give it 5 stars if the ribs had been fall off the bone tender. Perhaps next time around.

BBQ turkey, beef brisket, ribs, and sausage were all delicious! The potato salad was cold & the cole slaw was made with vinegar, not mayo. The waitress was great! She brought my adult son more soda than he could drink & suggested my menu choice. The restaurant is huge-- plenty of seating before & after the minor-league baseball game. If you're near Round Rock, TX you gotta go!

Went here for a late lunch on a Saturday and didn't have to wait at all. Food was good but not overwhelmingly awesome or anything. They don't trim their brisket at all when serving which I am not a fan of. The ribs and sausage were both very good. Sausage is mild but still had enough spice to be flavorful.

But for the sauce this is where they miss the mark in my opinion. Sauce is always a very personal taste thing and some may love it but I did not. The sauce appears to be very mustard based which I don't care for and isn't the sauce I think of for Texas BBQ (but Texas is a big place).

Overall it was a fine meal but I wouldn't seek out out.

Brisket was bland but moist. I didn't taste any salt, pepper or any seasoning. Slaw was alright. Sausage was great! Ribs were good. Pulled pork was good as well. Pecan pie was ok.

Good ol' Texas BBQ, albeit at a somewhat higher price than many other places. The brisket is reliably tasty (be sure to specify lean or moist), as are the ribs, and the turkey sandwich is delicious. Be sure to save some room for dessert - their peach cobbler is as good as you'll find.

Be prepared for a wait to be seated, especially weekend evenings.

Salt lick changed my life. The Driftwood one is slightly more better/more authentic than the Round Rock one, but they are both excellent. In Driftwood they don't take credit cards and there is no phone service but there is an ATM on site. Probably my favorite bbq of all time. It's also the only restaurant I ever bought a T shirt from

This place started out with great service and food. Its gone downhill from there. Long wait times, without it being packed. Slow ordering and food delivery. I should have know better than get bbq from here for a Christmas Party. Been waiting on a pick up order for more than an hour now. Something we called in yesterday BUT apparently they forgot about it! No one's even hungry anymore. What a waste of time and money!! Merry Christmas!!!

I beg to differ on these others reviews and i will admit they are not my favorite. But to give credit where credit is due the BBQ I had today was good. Brisket was cooked extremely well and the sausage was good too. The Beef Ribs was my favorite thing today which I'm glad i tried. Great taste and flavor. My only complaint is they should keep the sauce off. Let the customer decide. If you're in the area definitely give it a shot.
