  When a person takes the leap from hairdresser to owner and invites people to work alongside them roles become different. You’re no longer just a hairdresser. You evolve into mentor, idea bouncer, sounding board, flame fanner and teacher. You pour yourself into their growth. It no longer is about “me”, but about “them”. It’s about making their uncomfortableness comfortable. It’s about stretching their abilities. It’s about them believing in more.

  What I didn’t know when I sta...rted this journey was that they would do the same for me. They stretch me and push me into uncomfortable too.

  Yesterday Leah stretched herself asking to learn something she wasn’t comfortable doing and in doing that she stretched me when I got to teach her how to do a not so simple haircut.

  We met when we were in preschool. She let me cut and color her hair all through beauty school and she’s been with me through every salon I’ve worked at. We don’t get to see each other like we want to, but when we do we pick up right where we left off. Together since 1979 and doing her hair since 1993.
