First of all, if this review was based on my stylist it would be five stars all the way - she is everything I could want and more which is why it hurts my heart to write this. The one star is based on the salon itself. I have given a lot of thought over the past month as to whether to write this and it still really bugs me and everyone I have told about this says the story needs to be told, so here goes
Went there last month and got a color and blow dry - no cut. When I went to pay I found I was charged $35 for a "cut, blow dry and style" (I do not get an itemized bill until after I pay, which in retrospect I also do not care for). I let the lady at the front desk know she charged me in error. I am not sure of her name but it’s the one who has been there for a while – she is a shorter blond lady with glasses and shoulder length blond hair who works the front desk on Saturdays – anyway she agreed she had charged me in error and then informed me she would be crediting me back…$5…
Wait, what? She overcharged me $35 for a haircut I didn’t get and she is going to credit me back, $5? I thought I heard wrong. When I asked her about it again, instead of apologizing, she rather condescendingly informed me that apparently, a blow dry is $30 and a haircut is $5. I told her that wasn’t right, and all she said, in a very short manner, is “that is their policy.”
I’ve been a loyal customer at Ami for two years now. I show up when I am supposed to. I might not spend hundreds of dollars every time, but I do spend enough to keep the lights on, I never cancel, always tip well, am always pleasant, etc. In other words, the type of client I would think you’d want to keep around. If I was in her shoes, I would at least want to apologize for the error, and I would probably, if I was able, credit at least half, if not more, in good faith, to acknowledge my error, to demonstrate good customer service, to show that I did in fact care about keeping our customers happy, and that I would not let a couple bucks stand between losing a good customer like myself, especially if I was the one who made the mistake.
What I would not do is get an attitude, or insult my customer’s intelligence by making them think our haircuts are only $5, I would not treat them in such a way to make them think we have sooooo much business that they simply do not matter, or are not worthy of being treated with courtesy and respect.
I have had plenty of time to think about it, and as much as I love my stylist, I have noted the fact that my business is apparently not important or needed, and for that reason I will be taking my business elsewhere. The most essential part of any relationship is trust, which has been broken…it makes me very sad that my very talented and wonderful stylist is the one who will have to lose out, and for that I am deeply sorry.
I also can’t help but wonder how many times in the past she has overcharged me that I haven’t caught, from reading other reviews among other things. I am very glad the credit card number she got from me when I first signed up has long since expired.
Check those bills my friends, BEFORE you payand be sure to ask for their $5 haircut the next time you visit.
Great staff. Wonderful products. I have MCS/EI. This is the only salon where I don't have to bring my own products.
Beautiful.. I love everything about the salon, it's services, it's employees, it's mission, and the quality overall.
My daughter had her hair colored at this salon. The stylist told her it would be $100 max and when she went to leave they charged her $129 because they said she "chose" to have it styled and dried. She was never given a choice, they just did it. Also, when I have my hair colored my stylist always drys it to make sure the color is acceptable. I called and spoke to the manager and she was absolutely rude! The stylist did a great job. She should find a more honest place to work!
This was a GREAT experience from the moment I called to book an appointment. Shari was so welcoming at the front desk and my stylist, Kristie, did an AMAZING job. This is my new salon. 10/10 would book again.
I absolutely love going here. The staff is amazing and so kind. Hannah is my hair stylist is absolutely amazing! Courtney is my massage therapist is absolutely the best ever. For my facials I use Devan and she does a fantastic job. Everyone who works there is top notch and a I wouldn't go anywhere else.
