The summer is coming and many families think renting an RV is a great way to see the world. However, there is nothing safe about RVs and motorhomes especially for children. This video may be Swedish but you don't need sound to see the destruction that happens in an RV collision. This is from a new study just released by the Swedish Transport Administration. Sweden has some of the most stringent regulations when it comes to passenger safety. Consider this when making your travel plans for the summer. A tow behind RV which allows your children to remain in the vehicle is a much better option. #safeinthecar #keepkidssafe #summertravel #noRV

    DEAL ALERT!

The Britax Pinnacle seat which is the same seat as the Britax Frontier except with added side impact cushions is a Limited Time deal on Amazon (and I'm not sure when it will end) for only $259 AND it has the new Cool Flow fabric! That is a $50+ savings. This is a forward facing only seat that harnesses to 90lbs and boosters to 120lbs. It has ClickTight technology which makes it a super easy install. This seat is only appropriate for children over the age of 2....

This post came up on my Timehop today and I thought it was time to share it again as we enter the busy summer travel season. Flying with children is not as hard as everyone thinks it is, in fact I wrote a whole piece for Bonbon Break with all kinds of tips and tricks! Click on the picture below to check it out and come back and comment with your favorite travel tip!

Children should always have their own seat on the plane and use their car seat on the plane. Lap babies are just not safe period.

It's that time of year again! The Target car seat trade in event starts April 22nd and runs through May 4th. This is the perfect time to clean out the garage and get rid of those old, broken, expired or outgrown car seats. For each seat you trade in you get a coupon for 20% off a new seat and if you have the Target red card you can stack that 5% on top. Don't forget to make an appointment with Safe In The Car after you get your new seat so you can learn how to install and use it properly! #safeinthecar #keepkidsafe #savingmoney #target #affiliate

Please read the important story this mom is sharing of heartache and loss of two of her children 6 years ago in a motor vehicle collison. Now as a CPST she wants people to understand that just because children meet the minimum requirements for a seat does not mean that is the safest choice for them. This also goes for the laws set forward by each individual state, they are just minimum requirements of safety. #safeinthecar #keepkidssafe #ourchildrenarenotminimums #maximumsafety #RFtotheMAXlimit #FFtotheMAXlimit #Boosteruntilthey5step #whenweknowbetterwedobetter

That snow broom I talked about is an Amazon Deal of the Day today for only $9.99! Grab yourself one, give one to a loved one. #safeinthecar #keepkidssafe #cleanyourcarspeople #sooverthesnow #amazonaffiliate

EEEK! I'm so not ready for this but they are mature responsible kids and are ready to booster train at 6.5 years old. They will remain in their harnessed seats in Mom's car but for carpooling purposes we are practicing! #safeinthecar #keepkidsafe #cpstkids #boostersareforbigkids

I talk a lot about how important it is to use a car seat when flying and I often recommend the Cosco Next as a good choice for a travel seat because it is lightweight, narrow and has a pretty straightforward install. Check out my friend Saara CPST showing the proper way to install the seat rear facing with the seatbelt. #safeinthecar #keepkidsafe #safeonaplane #cosco

Clear your cars people! I'm only 5'3" tall and I have an extendable snow broom (thanks Dad!) that I use to clear the top of my minivan because it's the safe thing to do. Aside from obstructing your own view, if you don't clear your windshield you risk obstructing others views from the snow and ice flying off the top of your vehicle. #safeinthecar #keepkidsafe #sickofwinter

A tragic reminder that air bags can be deadly for young children. They just don't have the bone structure to survive an airbag deploying at 200 miles an hour. Although CT does not have a law regarding the age children need to be to ride in the front seat, it is recommended that all children remain in the back seat until at least age 13. If a young child must be in the front because there is no other seat available, disable the airbag if possible by key (available in many sing...le cab pickups). If you are unable to disable the airbag by key, push the seat as far back as possible and preferably put the child in a seat with a 5 point harness to keep them as far away from the airbag as possible. Airbag weight sensors can NOT be relied on to keep a child safe. If you find yourself regularly in a situation where you need to transport a child in the front seat of a vehicle please reach out to myself or another CPST to find out the best way to keep them safe. #safeinthecar #keepkidsafe #rearfaceto2and30 #harnessto5and40 #boosterto8and60 #backseatuntil13

This little baby is SO LUCKY that they escaped injury. Projectiles in and on top of vehicles can injure or kill people. Pay attention whats loose in your vehicle and be careful with loads on top of your vehicle. Always make sure everything is secure. #safeinthecar #keepkidssafe #projectiles #lucky #chicco
