I love, love, LOVED this tour. My husband and I spent a couple days in Maine for our anniversary. He is a huge King fan, so obviously this was on our list. It did not disappoint. Even as a casual fan, I was fascinated by and enthralled in the stories. This was probably due to having the best tour guide ever, Stu. Not only was he incredibly knowledgeable about all things King, but he had a charismatic and magnetic personality. I highly recommend him and this tour - even if you’ve never read a King or you’ve only read a few. You won’t be disappointed!
Outstanding tour! Our guide was very knowledgeable about Stephen King and Bangor in general. I would recommend this tour to any Stephen King fan!
This tour was an amazing experience. Being able to see the places that sparked Stephen King's imagination was phenomenal. There was so much information and so many memories sparked of stories read.
Wow! Stu really knows his stuff! My husband and I agree that this is the best tour we've ever taken. Lots of detail and courteous, friendly treatment. This tour was the highlight of our vacation.
Awesome tour if you're at all interested in Stephen King. Stu was our guide, and we felt like we got a really in depth tour, with a lot of personal ancedotes about Stephen King. He really knew what he was talking about, and took time to stop and let us get out and take pictures at a quite a few of the recognizable locales. I really couldn't have been happier with this tour. If you're in the area, it's definitely worth it!!! Thanks for a memorable morning, SK Tours!
Phenomenal tour! Great information about Stephen King's history, inspiration, and philanthropy throughout the Bangor area. I've been a fan since 5th grade/1987 when I read "The Long Walk" and it was an absolute thrill to see the places that inspired many of King's writings such as the Barrens, the Standpipe, and the glassed-in section of the Bangor Public Library as well as King's family home and the contributions he & his wife have made to improve the Bangor community, especially for its children. If you're a fan of King's work, you will enjoy this tour given by an extremely knowledgeable King fan who even took us back to our campground so that we wouldn't have to secure other transportation. I have so much appreciation that this tour exists and that I was able to travel from Florida to experience it. SK Tours of Maine delivers!
My wife and I had a terrific time learning all things Stephen King. The tour picked us up at our hotel and took its time showing us many locations used in Mr. King's books and a few places that were used in films that were made of his books. Along the way he pointed out other sights in and around Bangor. We would have liked to climb to the top of the standpipe, but understand why that is out of their control. Recommended.
My wife and I were traveling to Maine for our anniversary and put SK tours on our "things to do list". It was certainly one of the highlights of our trip. My wife and I appreciated Stu's knowledge of Mr. King. What surprised us the most was the humility and generousity of not only Stephen, but his wife Tabitha. I won't give away too many details, for that, it will cost you the price of admission. I promise if you are a SK fan, you will not only walk away with knowledge you never knew about the master of macbre, but a deep appreciation for him as a human being.
Stu loves what he does and it comes through in his telling of stories about Mr. King. His passion for the man and his talents shines through through-out the tour. If I am ever back in Bangor, I will most certainly book another seat. Thanks Stu for a great tour.
We had a great time with Stu. He is a native of Bangor and personally knows the Kings. It's interesting to see all the places in Bangor that influenced Stephan Kings writing. The tour is a must for King fans!!!
Lots of interesting info about the town, how it inspired King and what he has done for it in return. His house and the Pet Sematary cemetery are highlights.
Stu was very informative and friendly, driving us to all sorts of hidden King locations in his decked out van. The cemetery, the King house, and other locales all added up to a compelling tour. An interesting look at the author and the Bangor philanthropist. Enjoyed myself a lot.
A must do if you're in Bangor/Derry, Maine!
Stu is a scholar on the subject of Stephen King and took us to places where Stephen King grew up and frequented, places and events that inspired so many of his stories, and places some of his movie adaptations were filmed. A highlight of my trip!
We stopped in Bangor, ME for an overnight just for this tour. My husband had read the books, the kids and I have seen the movies. The tour took us to many locations that gave inspiration to the stories, which was really interesting to me. The kids liked visiting the King home, and his radio station. It was also inspirational to hear and see how King and his wife have made such a positive contribution to the city of Bangor. It was great fun, and always interesting to learn about an author/artist on a personal side.
