Fire department history!
A lot of questions have arisen about when the fire department was established. According to the earliest ordinance we could locate it shows that on August 31, 1885, the Roseville Fire Company was established.
Attached is a photo of the ordinance from 1885.
Come out and support one of our local Firefighters who was injured in June.
The Roseville Fire Department would like to say Thank You! To the Huntington Bank South Branch on Maysville Pike in Zanesville for donating us a large amount of pens.
It is always great to have such amazing support from businesses in the area!
Again THANK YOU!
Oct 6-12 is National Fire Prevention Week. Be sure to take the time to sit down and explain how to exit your homes in the event a fire was to happen so that your children understand where to go and what to do.
If you would like to set up a time to come to the Fire Station and view our equipment and have our members talk to your kids feel free to message us on here and we will make it happen!!
Have a great safe week!
October 6, 2019
We will honor our fallen firefighters as this has been designated as the memorial and remembrance date. Honor those who have given the ultimate sacrifice trying to save others.
Just a little History in some photos that hang up at the Fire Department!
Over the years we have had some amazing folks apart of our department.
Reminder folks, the burn ban is in effect 6a-6p and the wildfire level for today is Very High for our area. Also if you have questions on what is legal to burn please ask. Many do not realize what is legal and not legal and we will be glad to help inform you to prevent us from showing up on your door step. Below is the law in which you could be charged with for the burning of illegal items and materials.
Open Burning or Open Dumping - ORC 3734.03
No person shall dispose of solid wastes by open burning or open dumping, except as authorized by the director of environmental protection in rules adopted in accordance with division (V) of section 3734.01, section 3734.02, or sections 3734.70 to 3734.73 of the Revised Code and except for burying or burning the body of a dead animal as authorized by section 941.14 of the Revised Code. No person shall dispose of treated or untreated infectious wastes by open burning or open dumping. Section 3734.03 of the Ohio Revised Code (ORC) calls the act open dumping. It is considered an unclassified felony, which is punishable by a fine of $10,000 to $25,000 and a jail sentence of two to four years.
Roseville once was a booming town with a large pottery industry. This all came to a stop when these Pottery Companies burnt.
1995β Friendship Pottery which was located on Potters Alley caught fire and after extinguishment with assistance of several fire departments it was shut down for good. If you go down Potters Alley the telephone poles that were next the building still today are burnt and show how intense the blaze was.
1999β Brush/McCoy Pottery which was located on Perry St caught fire. Even with all efforts with extinguishment this pottery as well was shut down due to large structural damages. Several Fire Departments from several counties assisted on this fire as well.
Chief Derrick Keylor states that he can still remember how long it took to extinguish these fires and how intense the blazes were. States that itβs been 20 years since the last pottery fire and the impact is still hitting the village today.
Starting in October the Burn Ban is back in effect and remember no burning from 6am-6pm!
If you have any questions feel free to ask any member or message us on here! Have a great Fall everyone. ππππ

The Roseville Fire Dept was dispatched on a possible structure fire this morning around 0628 am. On arrival crews were met by the home owner who had put the fire out with a fire extinguisher that is kept in the house. Crews checked the area where the fire originated and ensured that the fire was out and there was nothing else that needed done.
The Newton Twp Fire Dept and Crooksville Fire Dept also responded on this incident.
This is a prime example why you should keep a fire extinguisher in your home and in a place that everyone in your home knows it is located in case of a fire.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to all the first responders who was involved in this incident in Gurensey County.
