I worked at Rodneys for a couple months and actually got my friend a job with me. He was scheduled for 1 day a week when he lived all the way in Mount Pleasant as it was and came out to Irwin everyday. Well he went in the next week to go ahead and work, and after he clocked in they fired him for “not being reliable” when he never called off, picked up an extra shift and always did an excellent job at work. So The take out manager, Alex Mireles, told him 4 weeks ago to come into the store in 2 weeks on Friday after 4:00 when the checks are all ready. Well 6 weeks and a couple days now go by and no paycheck. Disappointing but its a good thing I have a really great lawyer.
So I would not recommend working here for not only just that reason, but a couple others. The head cook which goes by Erik, is disgusting. He is always touching the girls at work, including the 2 minors who call him “Daddy Erik”. He always makes very degrading comments towards women, especially his wife who works there, goes into detail about cheating and intercourse, etc. Rodney is an interesting person to be around as well. I’ve never met anyone diagnosed Bipolar so this was a first for me. All I have to say is he goes out back to smoke weed a lot and comes in very manic. Shannon, his wife, is the opposite. He smokes weed outside all day while she comes into work reeking of alcohol and completely trashed. One of the dishwashers call off every Friday unless it’s payday. Also, one of the take out boys who’s been there for like 4 Year’s is lazy. He doesn’t do his job right, always takes the easy way out. All the other employees cant stand him and complain when they have to work with him.
However I would not recommend working here nor would I recommend eating here. When I worked in the kitchen, I’ve realized things are very unsanitary. I’ve seen cooks drop spoons on the floor and just pick it back up. Some dishwashers put away dishes that still have food and other gross things on them. I found so much stuff on cups for drinks at the server station. There’s only 1 person who cleans, washes down everything, doesn’t leave veggies and food laying out but unfortunately he only makes pizza, calzones, Strombolis and Italian hoagies so at least you know those are safe to order if you absolutely are desperate.
Also forgot about this one time Rodney called someone the “N” word a couple years back. He continues to use it to this day. And all his employees are white.
Plenty of parking. The banquet room is large enough for at least 50 people. The buffet food was excellent. The cake was dry in some spots and moist in other spots. The waitresses were very helpful and respectful.
Prices little high expect to pay a few more dollars per meal. Definitely worth the $.
Basic family restaurant. Nothing fancy. Food was good, but don't order the steak. It was a bit dry. Service was good.
Great service from the time you walk in the door with the hostess til your server comes. Great food at reasonable prices & you'll always take food home b/c you get a lot. When it's packed, service gets slow but patience is a virtue when you dine here. Its clean inside & out & many birthdays seem to be celebrated here. Does have "call ahead" seating which is nice since it's always busy.
Rodney and his staff are so kind and professional. The food is always delicious! A must before you leave is the Bakery! The sweets are fantastic!
Great food! Great staff. Our waitress was a sweetheart and very thoughtful. We had an 80th birthday party there and they were very accommodating to our large group. And out waitress was very patient with a million questions. Lol
Service was excellent, food was far below expectations. Fried zucchini was over breaded and tasteless, french fries were dry and cold, fish was over breaded and breading was hard. Doubt we will return
This is the best place to eat. You will not find better food and service not to mention the patio is amazing. They need more stars to describe. Love it here.
This was a truly pleasant dining experience....reasonably priced, great service, and Delicious Food. Starting with our server, Natalie.... She was quick and attentive, filling our glasses without needing to be asked. The House salad was perfect with the right portion of dressing (didn't have to ask for extra). The warm Italian bread was a big hit. And just as we finished out salads, Natalie was bringing out our entrees. I had the Angel Hair pasta with shrimp, scallops and crab meat.... So delicious. My son had the Cheese Ravioli. He must have enjoyed it because there was none left to take home! We will definitely be back to visit Rodney's again soon!
Good food. Water was not working when we visited.
First time there ! Definitely will go back .Had a delecious dinner ,great service ,very friendly !
Newly remodeled. Looks much better. Usually very busy. Great dinner selections
Food is good, but service was not. Had reservations for our Anniversary we waited 45 minutes and they crammed us into the bar at table that was very uncomfortable . Will not go back.
This is our favorite local restaurant. The food is always fresh and cooked to perfection and the new main dining room / bar areas make Rodney's even nicer than it was before. The update menus are also nice changes.
