We are new to Greeneville. Yesterday, our hamster was sick and hearing that Rocky Top has the only exotic pet veterinarian in the area, we took him there for treatment. We were aware he was probably not going to make it, but we would never have forgiven ourselves if we didn't try. When we arrived, the vet was out to lunch, so we decided to wait. Unfortunately, he passed away while we were waiting. When we stood up to walk out the door, my husband told the receptionist that he had died. She insisted on taking him back to be sure. Upon her return, she said "That'll be ten dollars." Really? Seriously? Whoever it was that checked him after he had died couldn't have done so before he died? And ten dollars for an office visit when it was at their request and we were literally on our way out the door? The distinct impression we got is that they didn't want us to walk away without giving them money. They saw an opportunity and they took it. For ten dollars. Our pets are our family, big or small, and we would never take them to a clinic that looks at them or at us like a source of profit. What they did was immoral, unethical, hurtful and, quite frankly, not worth the risk of future loss on their part. For ten dollars.

Very friendly staff. It's our first dog so we always have lots of questions when we are there. They take the time for us.

One of the vets at this practice kept me waiting for 3 hours on an emergency call one day. As a result, my dog was too far gone to be saved by the time he showed up. I believe when one signs on to become a vet, the term EMERGENCY should take precedence over all else. I will never forgive this vet, and I would never let him touch another of my animals.

This place is wonderful! Even my dog (who doesn't like anyone) loves the staff at Rocky Top, especially Dr. Matt Quillen. They have great prices, take care of my animals like they are their own, and leave me feeling confident in my dogs' comfort and happiness while I go on trips. I would recommend them to anyone!
