Perfect for a little hike. Great views and we'll maintained trails.
Sucked couldnt even bring dogs on the stair trail. Main reaaon for coming here was for the stairs
Beautiful park! Great trails and steps to the top of the bluff! I am thankful for everyone that worked on and provided resources for this park!
Experience Wisconsin's natural beauty! Hiking trails, bike trails, natural prairie, and climbing the bluff are all things that can be done here. Great for a day get away, just a few minutes outside of Friendship, WI.
This had an older State Park feel. The petroglyphs were a little disappointing. But after a thousand years in the Sun and weather I guess it's understandable. The hike to the top of the mound was incredible, but challenging.
I took my 2 year old here for a hike. An hour later, she was tired so we headed back to my car. I had a ticket under my wiper! Apparently Adams County park stickers are good at any park BUT this one. The camp host who explained this to me was rude & treated me like a criminal. I won't make that mistake again and I won't be back either. My daughter and I can find other activities to do at $14 a day (an hour for us). Had I been treated differently, I may have felt differently.
Quiet little park with some really nice hikes. The views from on top are pretty . The campground is small and quiet with large sites. Reserve if you want electric, as the number is limited. Office closes at 6.
The park was great itself. I knocked off a few stars because we are still waiting on our yearly state park decal that we paid for there. We came in late at night and filled out the form and paid.
I waited 1 month after to contact the state park system and it eventually got forwarded back to the people at Roche-A-Cri who called my wife (her name was on the form) in a stern voice requesting who contact them directly next time. and that it will be to us soon.
So over 2 months later we have still not gotten our decal. Keep that in mind when you come here if you plan to purchase it when the office is closed.
Great views all around. If you are willing to take the stairs to the overlook, it is worth the view. Not so good though for people with asthma. They have benches to take a rest on the way up.
Nice hiking trails with some neat things to see. A family of hawks living in the campground added valued entertainment.
Well maintained trails, most are fairly level. Amazing over look if you are up for lots of stairs (stairs are in excellent condition with lots of places to stop and rest)
Great Places to see history and to o for walks/jogs/hikes. You can also camp here!
Beautiful state park including camping, hiking, and a lot of stairs that lead up to a truly breathtaking view (well worth the 303 stairs).
Hiked in from the winter parking area on the south side. Then to the top of the mound via the 303 steps. Thank goodness they were there with the landings nicely spaced. It made the trip to the top worth the workout because the view is amazing.
The vandalism on the petroglyphs is heartbreaking but a really pretty park for an easy hike or picnic.
Beautiful location, nice hiking. And the views from the top are very nice. You might just check the cross country trails this winter depending upon our snowfall.
Sunday, October 2, 2016, my family drove an hour and 15 minutes (arriving at 3:00pm) to hike at Roche-A-Cri State Park. A friendly gentleman at the gate told us, "She just closed down the park." When we explained our situation, he told us the female attendant (I won't say her name here) was in the office and we could ask her if we could still hike. As we came into the park, she drove her utility vehicle straight at us, pointed her finger toward the gate and shouted "OUT!!". We sheepishly drove out and as we did, she hollered to the man, "Lock the gate!".
We had checked the website before we left home and it stated the park was open 6:00am-11:00pm. We fully understand there may have been a valid reason to close the park. However, the treatment we received was atrocious when a simple conversation could have easily cleared up the matter. This makes us very leery of setting out on a road trip only to find the state park closed when we arrive.
The park is gorgeous in fall. There are miles of trails that loop around the park that will keep you busy all day. I just wish there were more vantage points at the top of the mound.
This is a nice and cozy campground and park. The park rangers and staff were very nice and friendly. The location was great in the middle of the park that allows for privacy. If you need to shower or have running water this is not a place for you. They have pit bathrooms, that are Very clean and tidy. the surrounding foliage in the camp site was great. If you have a big rig you must know how to drive and back it very well. Tight spots but manageable at 65' > Overall this place is nice and tidy with great location. The only reason for not 5 is that they have limited access for amenities, but the cozy romance of the woods makes up for that!
