    On February 25th, 2019, patrol deputies responded to a report of a burglary where multiple weapons and electronic devices were stolen in the 4700 block of Pardue Road in Pineville. According to the victim, the vehicle was discovered burglarized sometime in the early morning hours of Monday. Deputies took the initial report and detectives from the Tioga Sub-station were briefed on the crime. Later that day, an additional complaint regarding a attempted burglary of a vehicle... in the 300 block of Janna Drive was reported. Deputies responded to take the report and during the course of their investigation, video surveillance was obtained from the complainant of the suspects and their attempt to burglarize the vehicle. Deputies took the initial report and now with suspect (s) description, set out to locate them. That afternoon, deputies located individuals who matched the suspect’s description and clothing in the surveillance video. The suspects, who were identified as Evyn Chase Matthews, Hunter Clark Beaulieu and Trent Andrew Williams, were located just a few blocks from the reported burglaries and detained without incident. Through Sheriff’s Detectives follow-up investigation, sufficient probable cause was established for the arrest of all three suspects for Criminal Trespassing and Simple Burglary. Williams was also arrested on a contempt of court warrant through Pineville. All three suspects were transported to the Rapides Parish Detention Center and booked and currently remain in jail at the time of this release. Detectives also recovered some of the stolen items and they were returned to the victim. Detectives say their investigation into this case is still ongoing.

    Today we were hosted by #OfficeDepot at 1804-C MacArthur Drive for the first ever PIZZA WITH THE POLICE Public Safety Event. The event ran from 11 am and will end at 2pm today.

    The RPSO BOMB TRUCK AND ROBOT was on “hand” to show the kids how it is used. RPSO SWAT Team members were there to show equipment and talk to the kids. And of course, the RPSO K-9 unit with DANKO, VIPER AND BENI the Belgian Malanois. The RPSO MOTOR DEPUTIES were also there but due to the inclement weather, they left the motorcycles at home.

    We want to thank MARK TERBOT and all the staff of OFFICE DEPOT #349 for an outstanding event. We are already looking forward to next time!!

    On February 8th, 2019, deputies assigned to the England Airpark Sub-station responded to a local car rental agency in reference to a complaint against a former employee. According to the initial report, an employee, identified as Jernique Marshav King, 31, of Alexandria, had allegedly given out up to eight rental vehicles without collecting the rental fee. After an internal inventory, the rental company discovered a total of ten vehicles had been taken from their lot. Eigh...t of the vehicles have been returned with two of those being damaged. Two vehicles were still missing and unaccounted for. Through their investigation, detectives were able to establish sufficient probable cause that supported the original complaint. On February 15th, warrants were obtained for King and she was located and taken into custody without incident. King was arrested and booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center for eight counts Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, two counts Criminal Damage $5000-$50,000, and two counts Theft of a Motor Vehicle. On February 19th, King was released on $32,900.00 bond. Sheriff’s Detectives say their investigation into this case is still ongoing.

    At approximately 5:54 am this morning, (February 20, 2019), Sheriff’s Office Dispatch received an alarm activation at a business in the 1700 block of Ulster Street off of LA Highway 1 North. Deputies responded but found no entry was made to the areas they had access. When the owner arrived a short time later, they located where entry was attempted through the back of the store where the suspect (s) used a sledge hammer to break a cinder black barrier. However, entry was no...t gained into the store and after the alarm was activated, the suspect took a weed eater and a leaf blower and fled the area. Deputies returned and began their investigation into the incident, gathering evidence from the scene. Through their investigation and with the assistance of the store owner, deputies were able to identify the suspect as Shannon Doyle Litton. Deputies remained patrolling in the area when at approximately 7 am, a citizen called dispatch and reported seeing a suspicious male subject walking down the road with a weed eater in his hands. Deputies located the suspect at England Drive and Construction Road where he was detained without incident. After positive identification was made of the suspect and the equipment, Litton was placed under arrest and transported to the Rapides Parish Detention Center and booked on various charges. Litton remains in jail at the time of this release and no bond has been set.

    On February 11th, 2019, deputies assigned to the Corrections Security had been investigating where bundles of contraband were being left for inmate crews throughout the parish. On Monday, investigators located suspected marijuana and smoking tobacco in the Cotile Lake area where inmates are routinely assigned to pick up trash.     On February 9th, 2019, patrol deputies responded to a local hospital in reference to a report of cruelty to the infirmed. According to the initial report, a patient from a local nursing home was admitted suffering 1st, 2nd and 3rd degree burns over a quarter of his body. The responding deputy made contact with the Emergency Room Doctor who advised the patient was presented with what was believed to be injuries that were consistent with burns caused by a scalding liquid. ...Sheriff’s Detectives responded to conduct their investigation and early on, were able to identify a suspect as Marcus L. Casson, 28 of Alexandria. Through their investigation, detectives were able to develop sufficient probable cause to obtain an arrest warrant for Casson. On February 11th, Casson was taken into custody without incident by members of the US Marshall's Violent Offender Task Force and booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center. Bond has not been set on the Cruelty to the Infirmed charge at the time of this release.

    UPDATE—-UPDATE—-UPDATE

    At approximately 9:30 am, divers recovered the body of the subject who fell from a boat into Catahoula Lake.

    Search and recovery operations resumed early Sunday morning and the victim, identified as Ryan Reed, 26 of Lafayette, was recovered and pronounced deceased at the scene. The body was turned over to the Rapides Parish Coronors Office.

    At approximately 4:30 pm, Sheriff’s dispatch received a call from the Lasalle Parish Sheriff’s Office in reference to a report of a possible drowning in Catahoula Lake in the 200 block of Stock Landing Road.

    Witnesses say the boat suddenly accelerated and the lone male occupant of the boat was ejected into the water. Several bystanders attempted to locate the subject but were unsuccessful.

    Patrol deputies along with deputies assigned to the Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Group, Agents with Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, Deputies with the Lasalle Parish Sheriff’s Office, Firefighters with the Deville Volunteer Fire Department and the Pineville Fire Department Search and Rescue as well as Acadian Ambulance, responded to assist in conducting search and rescue operations.

    At approximately 7:30 pm, divers suspended their search operations. Search operations will resume early tomorrow morning.

    On January 21st, 2019 , deputies responded to take a report of an incident of criminal sexual conduct involving a juvenile. Deputies took the initial report and Sheriff’s Detectives from the Tioga Sub-station were assigned the case for the follow up investigation. Detectives began their investigation and identified the suspect as Chandler Alan Johnson, 18, of 315 Meredith Drive, Pineville, LA. Through their investigation, including an interview of the victim through the Ch...ildren’s Advocacy Center, detectives were able to establish sufficient probable cause that supported the original allegations. A warrant was obtained for Johnson’s arrest for 1st Degree Rape. Johnson was made aware of the warrant and on February 5th, he turned himself in to detectives at the Rapides Parish Detention Center where he was booked and later released on a $250,000.00 bond

    On January 11th, 2019, deputies responded to the 300 block of Moss Point in reference to violation of a protection order. Upon arrival, the victim was contacted who stated a person who was under a protective order had the electricity turned off at his residence. In the order, it stated the electricity was to remain on. The deputy took the initial report and the case was turned over to detectives for further investigation. During their investigation, detectives established the order was correct that the utilities were to remain on. Also, the suspect, identified as Sharon Coutee, had been served and was aware of the order. The investigation also indicated the Sharon Coutee was the one who had the utilities disconnected. Detectives contacted Sharon Coutee and she was issued a criminal citation for Violation of a Protective Order.

    On December 21st, 2018, deputies responded to the 1500 block of LA 113, in reference to a missing juvenile. Contact was made with the juvenile’s mother, who advised that the15 year old juvenile left the residence the night before, without her permission, allegedly in the company of Zachary Atkinson, 31 of Oakdale. The complainant further advised that she had not had contact with the juvenile since she left the residence, but believed she may be in the Oakdale area, possibl...y with Atkinson. The juvenile was entered into the national database (NCIC ) as well as being put out through social media. The case was assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division, Juvenile Section for further investigation. Rapides Detectives, along with the assistance of Allen Parish Detectives, were able to locate the juvenile in Allen Parish. The juvenile was found ok and transported to Rapides Parish and booked into Renaissance Home for Youth. Detectives continued their investigation and were able to determine that the juvenile was in fact picked up from the residence by Atkinson. During their investigation, detectives were able to further discover additional evidence against Atkinson and were able to obtain warrants for his arrest for contributing to the delinquency of juveniles, unlawful purchase of alcohol by a person for a minor, encouraging/contributing to child delinquency/dependency/ neglect, and indecent behavior with a juvenile. On January 11th, 2019, Atkinson was booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center on the warrants and released on January 12th on a $2,500.00 bond.

    On December 12th, 208, deputies responded to a report of a theft of Utilities/ Water in the Pineville area. According to the initial report, an unknown subject at 1006 West Street was reconnecting the water service which was disconnected by the water district prior to this report. According to the complainant, this had been an ongoing issue at this address and due to that, the water district had to cap the direct water line to the residence. The initial report was taken and... the case was turned over to Sheriff’s Detectives from the Tioga Sub-station for further investigation. Through their investigation, detectives were able to determine a possible suspect, identified as Jonathan S. Mashburn. Several attempts to contact Mashburn were made but to no avail. Detectives obtained warrants on Mashburn and on December 29th, 2018, Mashburn was located and arrested for Theft $750-$5000 and booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center. Mashburn was also arrested for parish probation violations on an unrelated matter. Mashburn was later released on January 15th, 2019.
